Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jarrett Hendrix. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jarrett, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I’ve been an artist for most of my life. I can always remember when I was in elementary school I would have my work in the front of my composition book, and the artwork started from that very last page. There would come a time when the two would meet, and that didn’t always go over well with my teachers. In addition to fine art, I have also had a love for photography for most of my life. When you do what you love, there are times when you have to sit back and reflect on how long you’ve been doing that thing. Whether it’s through the lens of a camera, or painting on a canvas, the blending of art forms has lead me down an interesting path.
The idea to start creating photography backdrops is very simple story. I started to create them as a way to enhance my own photography, and after some time people started to recognize that my backdrops were a little out of the ordinary, they started to inquire. My wife ultimately convinced me to start selling them, and it’s been an amazing journey ever since.

Jarrett, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As I said before, I have been an artist for most of my life. I started Textured Hands as a way to enhance the work of others. These are not just photography backdrops, they are individual works of art created with care, time, and precision.
It’s fascinating to see how far this idea has come. My paintings have been used by some really amazing photographers, and I always say that my backdrops have seen more stars than I will ever see in my entire life. It’s cool to look at a social media posts, magazines, billboards, etc. and see something I painted out in the world.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I treat each backdrop as a painting that just so happens to not be stretched. I take my time on each piece, and it is reflected in the quality of my work. With that said, I believe my reputation is a representation of the care I put in each on of my pieces.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Staying consistent, and having good customer service has been my most effective strategy.
