We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Janna Fackrell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Janna below.
Janna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
Life’s path is unpredictable, isn’t it? Like many, I once wished to be further along in my career. I spent a decade in Los Angeles, immersed in acting—commercials, indie films, and the occasional TV show—and believed this was my calling. But life had other intentions. I got involved with the wrong crowd and lost my way, reaching a low that became my turning point.
This rock bottom, surprisingly, became my salvation, opening the door to discovering something greater than myself and revealing my soul’s true purpose. These tough experiences were necessary for my spiritual and emotional growth, preparing me to hold sacred spaces where others can discover their inner light. During those days, my light flickered, barely bright enough to guide myself, let alone others.
In 2012, after hitting rock bottom, my spiritual path unfolded, leading me to my true soul’s purpose. I immersed myself in various healing modalities—meditation, yoga, retreats, plant medicine. It was during a spiritual retreat in Sedona that I met my now husband. Moving to Kansas City, where he lived, gave us the opportunity to open our own retreat center, Sacred Hearts Healing. We couldn’t have done this in LA, and the midwest needed it more.
Looking back, do I wish I had started sooner or later? Honestly, the timing was perfect. Every experience, every challenge was a stepping stone to this beautiful path I’m on today. If you’re feeling uncertain about your path, I encourage you to trust the timing of your life—it knows what you need.

Janna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a Light Worker, my mission is to guide you towards discovering the light within yourself. I co-founded Sacred Hearts Healing, a retreat center near Kansas City. Our offerings include healing, teaching, yoga, breathwork, sound baths, online coaching, sacred ceremonies, and retreats both locally and internationally.
Sacred Hearts Healing, a 508c1a non-profit organization, operates under divine law. Our purpose is to share native and shamanic wisdom with Veterans at no cost, helping them reignite the sacred flame in their hearts through transformative practices like neurofeedback, sweat lodges, individual healing sessions, and empowering week-long retreats facilitated by Dr. Joe Dispenza.
For the past eight years, I’ve dedicated myself not only to our retreat center but also to my skincare venture, illuminessence organics. Founded in 2017 after learning that Europe had banned 1,328 cosmetic chemicals compared to the U.S.’s mere 30, I was shocked. This led me and my dermatologist husband to create a clean, effective, and affordable skincare line. We are currently in the process of selling the company to focus entirely on Sacred Hearts. If you’re interested, please get in touch.
My favorite part about what I do is watching people find the light within themselves again. Watching them come back to their soul remembering. What a gift and honor it is to witness this magic.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
It was a pivotal moment in my life when I found myself at rock bottom in Los Angeles, desperately searching for a way to reclaim my inner strength. That’s when my dear friend Sarah, gifted me a retreat in Sedona, AZ. It was led by a well-known intuitive who promised to guide us through the mystical vortexes of the area. I was thrilled and ready for the adventure, having just left behind another unfulfilling relationship in LA. My intention was to focus on healing and self-discovery.
On the first day, while exploring one of the vortexes, I met Jim. Instantly, I felt a deep soul connection with him, as if I had known him in another lifetime. We spent the entire week of the retreat together, sharing stories and experiences. Jim revealed that he was 17 years my senior, with seven children and six ex-wives. Initially, my ego shouted a firm “no,” reminding me of my independent life in LA with my my 9 pound dog, Pixie. Yet, my heart was drawn to him, feeling a sense of coming home.
Jim took a leap of faith, leaving behind his successful dermatology career and his home in Kansas City to join me in Los Angeles. Together, we immersed ourselves in shamanic and native teachings, fully committing to the spiritual path. Eventually, we knew it was time to bring our newfound wisdom back to the Midwest, where we envisioned buying land to create a space for others to heal and grow.
Our story is a testament to the power of following your heart and trusting the universe’s guidance.

Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
With unwavering dedication and my husband’s support, I poured my heart and soul into building illuminessence. The road was long and arduous, often testing my resolve. It wasn’t until after five challenging years that we celebrated our first profit—a momentous milestone etched in my memory.
Throughout this journey, there were countless times when doubt crept in, when the whispers of giving up seemed louder than my dreams. Even my husband questioned the path ahead, urging me to reconsider. Yet, deep within, I knew this mission was far greater than just me. It was about providing people with access to clean, effective skincare at an affordable price.
This is a tale of resilience, faith, and the unwavering trust in one’s intuition. To those seeking personal growth and resilience, remember that the path to success is paved with challenges, but it is also enriched with purpose and fulfillment.
