We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Janis Danevics. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Janis below.
Hi Janis, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I wanted to continue my professional creative path because I was interested in organizing managing. At first I didn’t know what exactly, but I was fascinated by listening to soul and r&b music and getting to know them
from the very beginning I had an environment with a lot of creative people whom I met in life, both music and graphic designers and event managers
Each of this people give his way of how they see things and if you have common vision you start build your own team.
In the 90s, I was fascinated by soul and r&b music as well as jazz like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Maceo Parker, Thelonius Monk etc they inspired me to learn the saxophone, through which I began to understand in depth how to offer myself to places where I could be a face of a specific place. Today, many restaurant owners have forgotten when music is an added asset to your place and not just food. If you want to be special then need think how to do it!
This should start with not only thinking about the food menu and how much I can earn from this place. If the place has an aura, people will want to come back. What is important is the vision and desire to invest and build a good team.
That’s why I learned the basics of business in Germany – Freiburg, where I was given a deeper vision of music as a business product and one of the values of the hospitality industry that gives feelings.
Food is nice but if your place also gives atmosphere vibe this be more then regular restaurant or terrace.
That’s why it’s important to find your niche
I started with soul and jazz music and for a given moment I have come to dance lounge music which broadens my horizons and I can serve my musical improvisation with food or a good delicious cocktail which complements it all and makes people happy!
This makes this place a luxury signature because the people who work there put their heart, time and effort.

Janis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Attending master classes and various music festivals, I became more interested in soul and r&b style music, learning it in Germany and Spain, learning the music business and developing my saxophone skills. While studying for a year in Germany, I learned the discipline of work ethics, which helped me understand more what the client wants. And be more different then others.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
My greatest experience in creative life is being myself show yourself to everyone 100% that’s what I’m currently doing with dance music: soulful house and contemporary jazz challenge is to surprise and make people happier through music
Because in the fast pace of life, a person forgets to celebrate life
The challenge to myself is to be more flexible, which I feel when I play Nikki Beach Sardinia and south of France Hotel Martinez, the audience there is hungry for new energetic music, which is expected from you through my saxophone playing
Again, I realize my creativity by organizing my events with international DJs and other musicians, where there is an opportunity to exchange information and not be satisfied with what has been achieved
It is important to never stop at what you have achieved and challenge yourself to new musical projects.
Im this kind musician who like to challenge myself every day im looking options.
Flexibility is a key to success. No matter what kind place you have hotel restaurant beach club or luxury car brand. Music plays one of main roles if you want to succeed. I experienced this in my 20 year music life be like only musician and also like manager in music business. People don’t like boring events they want music food wine or champagne and great atmosphere! This is things that you can not get going to get regular grocery store!
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Creative or artistic work is equivalent to architect or interior design because it requires imagination and strong focus society must understand that creativity and the music business make a great contribution to the economy and present the country
