Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to James Giarraputo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, James thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
I got to experience first hand truly poor, borderline toxic, leadership. In growing into a leadership role there I made it my focus to never stop trying to be the best leader I could be.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the creative space right after I got out of the military. I truly believe what sparked my personal success story and achievement of personal roadmap goals was believing day in and day out that I was meant to do this. I left the military with a vision in mind and even though I didn’t know how I was going to reach the ‘top’ of that goal, I never doubted for a second that I would make it. Believing in yourself is the only constant in this space. Be bold enough to know you can do anything but humble enough to follow and learn from others along the way. Be the best you can be but never believe you are better than anyone else!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to go from 1099 to a W-2 employee in order to reach a level of security and consistency in oder to achieve things in my personal life that we’re important to me; including buying a house and land.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My advice consists of a few things: communicate clearly and communicate often, but most important, communicate with humility and purpose. Don’t call you team to just check in, show them that you trust them, set precedents from the beginning on communication timelines, don’t push boundaries set-your team should be confident enough to be autonomous but respect and trust you enough to clearly communicate their workflow paths as they make progress
