We recently connected with JaeOne and have shared our conversation below.
JaeOne, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Learning how to make music has been a very fun process. I have always been a creative person. Whether it be writing, painting, or playing instruments. Honestly, making music came very natural to me. After releasing my first project, #CuzWhyNot, I knew that if I really locked in and learned how to create a song with structure, I would reach a new level creatively. I decided to study music. I watched countless documentaries and Youtube videos on musicians, producers, writers etc. It was very inspiring to see how my favorite songs were made and how musicians take different approaches with their music. Essential skills with being a musician would be to find your own unique sound, learn how to write a structured song, and be able to take constructive criticism. Luckily, no obstacles have stood in the way of me being able to learn my craft.

JaeOne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an HBU graduate from the illustrious North Carolina A&T. While wrapping up my senior year, I started to make music. At first, it started off as just a joke/fun hobby. But, after sharing my music with peers, I learned quickly that I should take it more seriously. My music is available on all streaming platforms. What sets me apart from others, is that my music is very positive and authentic. I tie in real life experiences with catchy hooks and relatable phrases. With having such great feedback from my music, I decided to start a podcast called “Inner Wisdom Podcast” I would put it under the “Self Help” category. I advise everyone who tunes in to “Always listen to themselves, because you have all the answers.” I show my authentic personality. Goofy, loving, funny and witty. The main message I want people to take from my content is to always remain positive and follow your dreams. No matter what obstacles come your way, as long as you keep God first, you will always be guided in the right direction. Even when life gets hard and confusing, everything is always okay.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal in my creative journey is to inspire and help as many people as possible. To show others that it is okay to follow your dreams, even if it doesn’t make sense to others. As long as you can see the vision, thats all that matters at the end of the day. When you start to care about other peoples opinions, it will throw you off course. The power of the tongue is very strong. I am already inspiring and helping others with my small platform. In due time, I am reaching the masses and letting my voice and truth be heard.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is watching myself grow by constantly pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. It it fun to constantly reinvent yourself. Also, like I touched on previously, helping others really does warm my heart. It gives me that extra drive whenever I get feedback from a podcast episode or from a song. Being able to use my God given gifts to inspire and help others is amazing.
