We were lucky to catch up with Jade Salinas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jade, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Capturing warm and authentic moments of nostalgia to last a lifetime, this is something I hold so close to my heart
I created Desert in Bloom Photography in the summer of 2018 to start storytelling for the wild + warm at heart. Cliche enough, I have carried a camera in hand since I was a little kid. What once started as a toy plastic camera has turned into one of my biggest dreams. My mission has become to provide individuals with nostalgic moments that will last a lifetime and capture moments and memories we can only dream to remember one day. The images we as photographers capture, provide these emotions and feelings of nostalgia, just one of the things that make our work so unique and meaningful.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a couple, portrait, and wedding photographer based in Conroe, Texas specializing in warm, authentic storytelling. I am a lover of nostalgia + memories to last a lifetime. I am for the wild and warm at heart. Being a part of my client’s most special moments is quite frankly my favorite thing ever.
After finding my love and passion for photography, I started Desert in Bloom Photography in the summer of 2018 with only hopes of what it has become. It has definitely been one of the wildest rides, but I truly would not change it for the world. I currently service the Greater Houston area where I have met so many amazing clients that have turned into friends. I am located in Conroe, Texas where I currently attend Sam Houston State University and also work alongside the Bearkat Athletic Department as a sports photographer.
A huge goal of mine was to create a greater community. Finding community over competition is huge, and I wanted to provide a space that connects photographers for the greater good. I started a small group on Instagram which as turned into much more than a community, but has provided me with the greatest friends and connected me with photographers across the world.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
This business has turned into more than I ever thought it would and is only continuing to surpass my wildest dreams. When I started this business as an incoming college freshman, I had no clue where it would lead me throughout college and just how special it would become. I currently run Desert in Bloom Photography almost full time, while continuing my education at Sam Houston State University where I am majoring in Public Relations + Advertising. What once started as a side hustle and a passion, has turned into the most fulfilling and rewarding jobs ever. I cannot wait to see where it will take me upon my graduation this fall.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media in my opinion is quite frankly one of the hardest parts of running a business whose clientele is directly correlated with social media applications like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc. Showing up, even when its hard is something that brought me a greater social media presence and following. Being consistent, posting photos, reels, and stories, and keeping up with clients is something that is not always easy, but so extremely beneficial. My greatest advice would be to remember that you are unique, and bring something different to the table than anyone else. Don’t get stuck in comparing yourself to others, because your creativity is unique.
