We recently connected with Jacy Peck and have shared our conversation below.
Jacy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
After being a stay at mom for over 13 years, raising two beautiful daughters I could not be prouder of, facing adversity in health, and taking many paths less trod, I find my myself facing a new challenge. My current path towards a crown with Mrs Canada Inc. I never considered myself a beauty queen, but I do know many beauty queens and with their love, and the support from my family, I took a chance. My interview went really well and everyone I meet seems to be impressed with my skills, creativity, and driven nature. I’m hoping this new adventure will be fruitful for me, other creatives, and other women who can see themselves in me. I believe I’m the first openly autistic woman for Mrs Canada Inc and I have many special interests I think the world will find unique. The national competition will happen in July of 2026 and I believe my excitement has over taken my nerves, I’m honoured to stand beside the other women speaking out about their platforms, passions, and families.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an award winning mermaid performer and awarded author from Ontario Canada. My award winning children’s book, There’s A Mermaid in my Bathtub, is available on amazon. I teach and certify mermaids and freedivers through HyperCubeh20 in association with Freedive Toronto. I’m part of a two woman team running one of the largest groups of Freedivers and Mermaids in Canada, through the non-for-profit Freedive Toronto. We have a sister club in Ottawa and we’re looking to expand. I just finished writing my first large scale fantasy novel, A Fate Unknown, available on the my patreon, and now I’m a finalist for Mrs Canada Inc.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a creative you will have lots of doors close in face, failed attempts, bitter business relationships, and the ever looming ‘I can do it cheaper’ nipping at your heels. The trick is to keep moving. In order to thrive you need to spread your creativity out, for me, It’s performing, writing, teaching, and modeling. Resiliency is not a skill you develop over night, it is an amour that comes from hardship and hurt feelings. And a simple choice. You can either lay down and cry about it or you send another email, make a different call, and pivot. Winners ever stop moving.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The biggest reward in what I do is seeing joy in others. Being ‘someone’s dream’, being a child’s imaginary friend come to life, or bringing back magic to an adult who had to forget, is truly my biggest reward. As we grow, magic is forgotten, we stop seeing the blossoms in springs, we stop looking up at the stars, we stop hearing the waves lap at the shore, but through my chosen performance art path, I try to help people remember and reconnect with their inner magic. I know what it does to children to meet a mermaid, because I know what it would’ve done for me.
