We recently connected with Jacquiline Cox and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jacquiline thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
Being anointed and born with certain gifts, people expect you to do a lot more than what God assigned you to do. So being someone such as myself, I know God made us all with gifts and talents, However, I am also aware that just because I’m good at a lot of things, doesn’t mean everything is my assignment and I shouldn’t allow other people to pressure me into doing everything I’m good at just because it may benefit a need or desire they need at the time.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself to your readers. My name is Jacquiline, and I hail from Chicago, IL. My journey in the industry began after graduating from Dunbar Vocational Career Academy and pursuing a year at Columbia College in Chicago. I proudly graduated Cum Laude from the University of Arizona Global Campus with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
I am a passionate writer with a mission to influence the world regardless of gender, race, or age. My goal is to provide encouragement to individuals who are facing various storms in life. To date, I have published three books with the support of LaQuita Parks from Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing.
In addition to my writing, I am actively involved in motivational speaking engagements at schools and non-profit organizations, aiming to inspire and empower others. As a World Record Holder for my participation in the Ruby Bridges Foundation, I am committed to making a positive impact.
I am incredibly proud of being recognized as one of THE NYC JOURNAL’s Class of 2024 40 UNDER-40 INNOVATORS: ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRITS SHAPING INDUSTRIES WITH FEARLESS STRIDES. This recognition highlights my dedication and entrepreneurial spirit.
As a 3-time international and domestic #1 bestselling author, a global radio podcast host of Listen Linda!, a motivational speaker, an autism parent advocate, a lupus advocate, and a life coach, I have a wide range of expertise to offer. My goal is to provide guidance and support to individuals, helping them navigate their own journeys.
I am the founder of Class E Defined, LLC, a company that offers a variety of digital services to clients. Additionally, I am the co-founder of Youngsavedleaders, an online clothing store, which I established alongside my sons, Jayden Smith Cox, CEO & Co-Founder, and Marvis Cox Jr., Creative Visionary.
Throughout my personal journey, I have triumphed over thyroid cancer and domestic violence, understanding the strength within me to overcome any obstacle. It is this resilience that drives me to pursue multiple passions and encourages others to do the same.
Lastly, I am honored to be the wife of a War Veteran and the mother of five wonderful children. They bring joy and inspiration to my life.
In summary, as a digital content creator, CEO of ClassEDefined LLC, and co-founder of YoungSavedLeaders Clothing, I am dedicated to creating meaningful content, providing valuable services, and making a lasting impact in the lives of others. I invite potential clients, followers, and fans to join me on this journey, where together we can overcome challenges and achieve greatness.”
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the most significant moments of pivoting in my life came when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. This unexpected and life-altering event forced me to reevaluate her priorities and make important decisions about my health and future.
Instead of letting fear and uncertainty consume her, I chose to face the challenge head-on and adapt my mindset. I tapped into my inner strength and resilience, using my experience as a catalyst for personal growth and transformation.
Throughout my cancer journey, I discovered a newfound appreciation for life and a deep sense of gratitude. I recognized the importance of taking care of my physical and mental well-being, which led me to explore various holistic approaches to healing.
This pivotal moment not only shaped my perspective on life but also influenced my career trajectory. It fueled my passion for motivational speaking, writing, and advocacy work. I realized that my story and experiences could inspire and empower others who were facing their own battles.
By embracing my own journey and sharing my story, I was able to pivot from being solely focused on my own challenges to becoming a beacon of hope and support for others. I transformed my personal struggle into a source of motivation, resilience, and determination, inspiring others to persevere and overcome their own obstacles.
This pivot in my life ultimately led her to establish Class E Defined, LLC, and pursue my multiple passions as a digital content creator, bestselling author, radio podcast host, advocate, and life coach. It is a testament to my ability to adapt, grow, and use my experiences to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
This highlights my ability to pivot in the face of adversity, turning a challenging situation into an opportunity for personal and professional growth. It serves as a reminder that even in the most challenging times, there is always room for transformation and finding new paths forward.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
As a creative individual, there might be certain aspects of my journey that non-creatives may struggle to understand. One of the key challenges is the constant need for inspiration and the creative process itself. Non-creatives might find it difficult to comprehend the depth and complexity of the creative mind and the immense effort it takes to consistently produce original and engaging work.
Creative individuals often rely on their ability to think outside the box and see things from a unique perspective. This can be challenging for non-creatives to grasp, as they might approach problems and tasks in a more structured and conventional manner. The creative process involves embracing uncertainty, taking risks, and exploring unconventional ideas, which can be unfamiliar territory for those who are more inclined towards logic and practicality.
Another aspect that non-creatives may struggle to understand is the emotional investment and vulnerability that comes with being a creative. The work we create often reflects our personal experiences, beliefs, and emotions. It can be a deeply intimate and introspective process, and sharing our creations with others requires a certain level of courage and vulnerability. Non-creatives might have a hard time empathizing with the emotional rollercoaster that creatives often go through during the creation and sharing of their work.
Additionally, the concept of “work-life balance” can be quite different for creatives. While non-creatives might have a clear separation between work and personal life, creative individuals often find that their work is an extension of who they are. Ideas and inspiration can strike at any moment, and it can be challenging to switch off the creative mindset. Non-creatives may struggle to understand the blurred lines between work and personal life, and the passion that drives creatives to constantly pursue their creative endeavors.
It is important for non-creatives to understand and appreciate the unique challenges and perspectives of creatives. By doing so, they can foster a supportive environment that encourages creativity and allows for collaboration and innovation. Creatives can benefit from the enlightenment of non-creatives by gaining new perspectives and insights that can enhance their work and expand their creative horizons.
