We were lucky to catch up with Jackie Rodman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jackie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you manage your own social media?
I manage my social media all by myself! I am both the graphic designer and marketing team in one. I design all my reels, my posts, and stories myself. It can sometimes be hard managing it all but I make it work. One tip I would give is to show your audience and clients your true most authentic self. It helps your clients get to know you better and your personality. Clients always want to see both a person and professional who is both caring, genuine and relatable.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an Esthetician and I specialize in acne treatments. I am obsessed with helping people look and feel their best! I originally entered the beauty industry right out of college wanting to pursue makeup, but I quickly realized I wanted more. I wanted to change the skin long term and not just temporarily. In college, I wanted to be a therapist, but left graduate school because something didn’t feel right. I still wanted to help but in a different way. Now, I consider being an esthetician and skin therapist the most rewarding career. I feel like I can help both men and women both with their self esteem, and restore their confidence in themselves and their skin.
I have now been licensed for 2 in a half years as an Esthetician and have been a spa owner for one year. I offer unique treatments and take a holistic approach to treating the skin. I have learned so much and pursued higher education in treating acne, sensitive skin, and advanced chemical peel training.
I am obsessed with learning all the latest treatments and new technology in the esthetics industry and love growing in knowledge so I can help my clients the best I can.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
One of the best things for your business is the true power of social media! One of my favorite sales stories, is I have started recording my morning and nightly routine for my audience!
And I have been doing it for awhile but it finally is paid off from consistency and I have clients order products I talk about and recommend in my stories! I had someone buy my entire routine once and I felt so proud of myself.
A very important thing is to only retail products you use yourself and are absolutely in love with!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My best recommendation is Facebook Groups! I have joined so many Facebook groups and have promoted myself and my work constantly! Mom specific groups have helped me and other small business groups also! People are always looking for recommendations so it helps and everyone is looking to network! The second way I have gotten clients are referrals too. And it’s important to thank your clients who send you their sister, friend, relative, etc.!
