We recently connected with Isaiah Owens( IRO) and have shared our conversation below.
Isaiah , appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I don’t think that if I started taking photos seriously before or after 2020 it would make a difference. The reason that I say that is because I believe that everything happens for a reason. I started taking photos right after Covid-19. I was very well known for putting on the best Model Worskhops. Now in my Model Workshops I would teach women and men how to pose in front of the camera, get comfortable, also I would teach them how to market on social media to get bookings. I would go over how to turn your Instagram into a business page and post content when your page is most active. From there that is how I built all my clientele in the first few months of doing photography and from there I have been booked ever since.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Isaiah Owens known as your favorite photography IRO from belleville Michigan. I have been doing photography and making content seriously for the last 5 years. The number one problem that I help my clients that also separates me from others is that I really help them market on social media correctly and not just doing a sweet photoshoot with me. I love being booked for photoshoots, but I also know that people book me for photoshoots and concerts because they know that I will be able to help them promote the work on there social media and get it out to major people. I am not just a photographer I am also a marketer. I believe that I have mastered the craft of marketing on Instagram. The one thing that I am most proud of is doing a big major photoshoot with the one and only Detroit Darr. Detroit Darr is the number one food review influencer in Michigan and creates amazing content that helps get food brands more attention. Not only did he trust me to have full control of the photoshoot and how we were going to market the shoot he has become a great friend.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I can honestly say the one thing that I have been struggling with that some creatives might be able to relate to is wanting to step outside of the box of their content. I have been doing photography for the last 5 years , and I am now at the point where I want to do more than just take photos. If you follow me on social media you will see that I have barely been posting on social media as much. The reason for that is because I have been having writers block and also trying to get out of my head of wanting to do other content than just taking photos. I have a serious passion and interest in vlogging such as doing YouTube and doing workout content. I don’t want people to forget that I am still a photographer and will forever and will always take photos but I do want to see what else is out there for me. I am now in a season with trusting God and having faith that he will keep showing me that I am bigger than a photographer and that it’s ok to do more than just take photo. I want people to read this article and to be inspired that they can do anything that they put there mind to and that its ok to have different interest and keep learning and growing in your passion and create more passions.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I believe that we need to work together more. The one thing that I have said in all my articles since 2021 is that we need to start sharing each others work everytime its gets posted in Detroit. I do believe that Detroit has the best photographers, Painters and creatives in general. We all just need to start working together and not looking at
It as trying to be better than the next man. There is opportunities, money out here for everyone. I believe that we can all win with working together.
