We recently connected with Iris Elizabeth and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Iris, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
Before partnering with local Beauty Supply stores, I started selling my hair growth oil on social media. I kept promoting, I did a one-day sale, and I received great responses and gained lots of customers. This was the day I knew this is what I was meant to do. Since high school I have always mixed and made my own products and used them on clients. Through the years and after learning more and more about different hair types and textures I became more interested in the ingredients being used, I knew this could not be a “one size fits all”.

Iris, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Iris Elizabeth is the incubator for this rising hair care line. She has single handedly created every item under the IBlossom umbrella by hand using natural and organic ingredients. This divorced mother of three leaves no stone
unturned when it comes to her business as well as helping others manifest their dreams as well. Being
an advocate for small business is also a passion of Iris’. When it came to her starting her line, she
wanted to erase the stereo types of African American hair and she’s doing just that.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
“I don’t want women to have to go in stores and search for our products or have to ask someone where a particular edge control or oils are located. I WANT YOU TO SEE IT. I’m looking to be a part of the
movement that’s turning our one shelf into an aisle. IBlossom stands for more than blossoming our
crowns. IBlossom also blossoms our self-esteem. When you look good you feel good.” Even though
starting a business is not easy, Iris has donated products and free hair styles to children in her
community and it because of her tenacious vibe and giving heart that IBlossom will one day be a
household name.
You will have some people who will say “who cares if you can see “her” or not, if she’s in the store that’s
a big achievement but why do we always have to accept just being there. IBlossom is not only there but
you will actually see and feel the birth of IBlossom. “I will not be compartmentalized.” Iris states.
“How can you celebrate beauty if you are putting stigmas on it. The bottom line is hair is not one size
fits all. Its’ time that women of color are adequately represented, and that representation comes from
Iris Elizabeth.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I still struggle with “social media” Iris says. ” I have been on social media since I was in middle school you would think I’d have the algorithms down to a science by now.” The best thing I can do when it comes to social media is to remain true to who I am. I am learning that I do not have to be the expert in every area. When it comes to social media, I let my customers continue to help me grow my customer base.” iBlossom organics is a growing brand and we are truly still on the rise, and we know that the world will soon catch on.
