We recently connected with Ingrid Barnhart and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ingrid , thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I have always liked photography. I saw my Dad taking pictures of everything (it was his hobby). I did my first portrait session when I was 17, invited a high school friend, painted a large piece of paper, grabbed a lamp in my house, and did it! I still have those pictures, which are a treasure for me. I wanted to go to Photography School when I graduated. Still, I ended up forgetting about it and doing not only one but two college degrees in business and administration, and of course, that’s what I did for a long time; I worked with two big companies in my home country. Then, a lot of years later, I moved to the US and that’s when I decided to pursue photography as my new career, and I couldn’t be happier with what I do!
Ingrid , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I help women see another version of themselves. My job is to make them look fabulous and offer them a unique experience where they can rediscover themselves. I make photographs that they feel in their soul, I want to tell stories of every woman that comes to my studio. I do contemporary portraits of women, fine art maternity, boudoir.
I also do personal branding and headshots for men and women.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Definitely the platforms of education that we have today. I started in 2016 and there was only one platform for photographer in the internet. There are tons of information and resources for someone starting today, for all genres.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The happiness I see on my clients, first when they leave my studio and second when the see their images. I’ve seen tears!
A full portrait experience is something that everyone should do, it’s so empowering and leaves everyone (including me) feeling amazing! And to have beautiful pictures to hang in your walls, pass to next generations, to remind you of that moment in life forever! Time pass quick, and we can’t deny the value of photographs.
