India, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? We’d love to hear the backstory the illustrates how you grew your brand.
Scaling India J Designs didn’t happen overnight. When I first started, it was simply a passion for design and helping beauty and service-based businesses elevate their visual presence. In the beginning, I was taking on smaller projects and learning how to navigate both the creative and business side of entrepreneurship.
As demand grew, I realized that in order to scale, I needed to treat my design work like a structured business rather than just a service. One of the biggest strategies that helped me grow was refining my brand positioning and focusing on high-quality, strategic designs that actually help businesses convert and grow. Instead of trying to serve everyone, I began focusing on entrepreneurs and beauty professionals who wanted premium branding and visuals.
India, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is India, and I’m the founder and creative director behind India J Designs, a graphic design studio that specializes in helping beauty professionals and service-based entrepreneurs elevate their brands through strategic, high-end visuals.
My journey into graphic design started from a genuine love for creativity and branding. I’ve always been drawn to aesthetics, visuals, and the power of presentation. As I began working with entrepreneurs, particularly within the beauty industry, I noticed that many incredibly talented business owners struggled with one major thing their branding didn’t reflect the quality of their work. That realization pushed me to turn my creative skill into a business that helps entrepreneurs present themselves at a higher level.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes, it actually started as a hobby. Graphic design was something I naturally gravitated toward because I’ve always had a strong passion for creativity, visuals, and branding. In the beginning, I would design just for fun and occasionally help friends or small business owners with graphics. What started as something I enjoyed doing in my spare time slowly began turning into something much bigger as more people started asking for my work.
As the demand grew, I realized there was a real opportunity to turn my creative skill into a legitimate business. That’s when I began taking the business side more seriously refining my brand, building a professional client process, and positioning India J Designs as a design service specifically focused on helping entrepreneurs elevate their branding.
One of the key milestones for me was recognizing the impact that strong design can have on a business. Many of my early clients were beauty professionals and service-based entrepreneurs who were incredibly talented but needed visuals that truly reflected the quality of their work. Being able to help them present their businesses in a more professional and elevated way reinforced that this was something I could build long-term.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing an idea transform into something that has a real impact. As a designer, I’m often taking someone’s vision, thoughts, or even just a simple concept and turning it into visuals that represent their brand and business in a powerful way.
What makes it especially fulfilling for me is working with entrepreneurs who are passionate about what they do but may struggle with how to visually present their brand. When I’m able to create designs that help them feel more confident, attract their ideal clients, or launch something they’ve been dreaming about, that’s incredibly rewarding.
