We recently connected with Iirie Earnest and have shared our conversation below.
Iirie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
A defining moment for me is when I realized and experiencing the healing I found in plants. By eating plants and medicating with plants I have been able to help others and myself, I cured Lupus in myself and controlled the pain from both Lupus and Fibromyalgia. I never used and medication prescribed for either condition I just committed to a Plantbased lifestyle. Through my studies I learned to commit to Veganism.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into holistic health first with massage when I was about 20. It open me up to the world of holistic health completely and helped me begin to really start caring about my health and made me desire to want to help others.
I explored thru education in schools, workshops, reading, watching documentaries and mentors different aspects & therapies within holistic health. From massage therapy being the beginning of my path,
I was opened up to acupressure, meditation, Tai Chi, nutrition, Chakra Healing, Sound Healing, different styles of massage, Reiki and many other modalities. I feel in love with my studies In Ayurvedic Medicine, Kemetic Healing, Eastern Medicine’ & Therapies.
I also studied healing with different herbs such as cannabis and mushrooms like Reishi & Lion’s Mane, just to name a few before these herbs, really reached their mainstream popularity.
Currently I work in the cannabis industry and I also share a business with my husband who is an an amazing chef, named Poetential Earnest, also known as Poe. Our business is 100% Vegan. He creates great cuisine, some fun and confronting and other times healthy while still adding wonderful flavors. Our goal is to show people vegan cuisine is amazing and just because animals are not on the plate doesn’t mean we all can’t still have amazing food. We also add a holistic approach, so people can see they are getting yummy food and they learn our nutrient rich plants food can be if eaten with some knowledge.
On my social media for my IG earnestlyirie360. I am known as “The Plant Eating Goddess”. I often share food pcs full of color, talk about herbs, healing and care for ourselves. I also include animal activism and information about cannabis. Sometimes I keep it fun and light in order to draw people in and other times you can see my passion,
.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I can recall a time where I had to pivot in business, which was very scary because that can change how your clientele/customers feel about your business and if they will continue to use your services and products. My husband who is chef ReBeLFoodie ByPOE and co-owner and also co-owner of Earnestly iirie , The Plant Eating Goddess, which is my brand, Worked with me to change our business to 100% vegan business. Originally when we launch ReBeLFoodie ByPOE we cooked for all types of eaters. We always included a vegan option. But as we were growing back into becoming vegan we felt uncomfortable with continuing to cook and use products that did not line up with our lifestyle. It was not hard to change but it was still scary because my husband has been working the culinary for 30 years and people are sometimes hesitant about trying vegan cuisine. Also with my brain earnestly I agree, the planteatinggoddess my platform talks about holistic health which can include everything from using herbs for healing such as cannabis and of course being 100% Plantbased, I went full in becoming vegan and becoming an animal rights activist. I was nervous how friends family and clientele would feel about this but honestly I’ve received a lot of love.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
My business partner happens to be my husband chef Poetential Earnest also know as Chef Poe. We met when we were very young add a talent show and then re-met again working at the mall and then officially were re-introduced through a friend. We dated briefly and then he moved to Chicago to continue his culinary career. While I stayed in San Diego and took Ayurvedic Medicine courses and continued on my holistic health journey
