We recently connected with Igor Shrayer and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Igor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Meaningful artist projects can take various forms depending on the artist’s vision, interests, and the social, cultural, or environmental context. What ultimately defines a project as meaningful is its ability to engage, inspire, and create a positive impact on individuals, communities, or society as a whole. My Body Language Art series is focusing on the Hidden Meanings like microexpressions, small gestures, or fleeting movements that convey underlying thoughts, emotions, or intentions. The artwork could encourage viewers to pay closer attention to the intricacies of non-verbal cues in everyday interactions. My Body Languages Art series was published and awarded in the world’s biggest curated photo gallery 1x and exhibited on Paris and Luxembourg Art Fair 2022.
Igor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I studied Painting, Photography and Digital Art – which has helped me blend technology together with my creativity. In the beginning of my artistic carrier when I learned at Art College I painted landscapes, portraits and still life. But very soon I realized that I am more interested in abstract and modern art, The contemporary art style attracts me and I am always looking for new concepts, ideas and techniques from various mediums. When I started to capture photographs and use Photoshop for editing I realized that there are many opportunities to bring my vision to life and complete my project with an enhanced final result. I can combine few photos in the one montage, I can play with colors and light and usually create a few versions of my artwork but I publish only the best ones. I have no set method and I am usually driven by spontaneity – this is usually linked to my mood at the time. Being able to change something that was planned midway, sometimes gives beautiful and unexpected results. Modern abstract art allows me to share what I feel and think. While my paintings are an abstract shot of who I am I always hope that it touches someone in some way – giving purpose to my work.
I’ve learned many lessons along the way – with the most important being true to yourself. The art an artist debuts speaks volume about his creativity and originality. Also, I’ve learned to enjoy the process – through and through no matter the obstacles along the way. The ingenuity of the journey is expressed through the art and appreciated more by my audience.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Art has the power to connect people on an emotional level. Artists can touch the lives of others, evoke emotions, challenge perspectives, and inspire change. The ability to make a positive impact, however small, through their creative work can be deeply gratifying and fulfilling. As for me, what matters most is finding joy, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose in the artistic process and the impact it has on oneself and others.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Society should advocate for and protect the rights of artists, such as copyright protection, fair compensation, and freedom of expression. This ensures that artists can maintain control over their work, receive proper recognition, and sustain their livelihoods. Another very important step is Valuing and Recognizing the Arts. Society can acknowledge and appreciate the intrinsic value of the arts by recognizing its importance in cultural, social, and economic spheres. This involves fostering a culture that respects and values artistic expression, creativity, and innovation.
