We were lucky to catch up with Igor Glushkin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Igor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I embraced a pivotal shift in my practice and taught myself digital painting. Grounded in a fine arts background, this period allowed me to translate traditional techniques into a digital medium, expanding both my process and creative voice.
I use my ipadpro along with the native application procreate to paint digitally.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My path into the creative field began with formal fine arts training in New York City, followed by advanced study in Italy, where I learned classical techniques inspired by the Old Masters. After graduation, I spent many years as a successful art director in graphic design, developing a strong foundation in visual communication before expanding into digital painting.
I draw inspiration from traditional painters throughout history, whose mastery of technique, composition, and light continues to influence my work.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
A community can support local artists by actively engaging with their work—attending exhibitions, purchasing art, commissioning projects, and sharing their work with others. Providing institutional support through grants, public art opportunities, and accessible creative spaces also helps artists sustain their practice while strengthening the cultural fabric of the community.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the opportunity to express creativity and continually evolve through my work.
