Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Idorenyin Udoh. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Idorenyin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My mom specifically noticed my ability to grasp concepts really young and skills such as reading and spent her time fostering that talent. My mom always educated for my education to ensure I wasn’t left behind in a system that often ignored learning differences especially for Black girl children. Often our need for more attention is seen as problematic disruptive classroom behavior. I’m glad my mom ensured that she got the tools o needed.

Idorenyin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I realized my personal success relied on my ability to be present in my life I created a business that provides tools to make the process of caring for a high achiever easier !
Self care items such as candles , simple skin care products infused with oils researched to help with certain aspects of continuing to be high achiever. I learned through my studies that smell and memory are really deeply connected and so I began not only utilizing what I found in research for product but also self studying how using the products have aided in my success. Since I began making these products my life has done a 180 from relying heavily on Government assistance because it’s what I could use and then self sustaining through a role I love and my self brand, I am shocked at the way things have changed for me. I want to share these tools with others who may need them. People who can benefit from what I’ve researched.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the concept of family over everything. I had to learn instead that your chosen community matters massively. When I was at my lowest point I had to learn the ways in which family can often fall short in the support they claim to offer in attempts to keep you giving your resources. Chosen community can sometimes be the main reason you make it through a rough patch and I think more emphasis should be placed on the importance on choosing the right people to surround you as you climb.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Authenticity is the most effective way I’ve gained and retained clientele I share my story very honestly and openly because I need people to see that if they relate to any part of my story they know things can change, things can turn around, and it’s possible to pivot.
