We were lucky to catch up with Holly Negreiros & Dante Aguilar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Holly Negreiros & Dante Aguilar, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
My mom always wanted a floral shop, and growing up, that dream stuck with me. Somewhere along the way, it became my dream too. I went from saving inspiration photos on my phone, to researching flowers, finding wholesalers, understanding seasons, and figuring out what tools I’d need just to make a single bouquet. Instead of overthinking, I just started. I bought flowers, practiced at home, and took online classes. Within a month, I created a name, launched an Instagram account, and started to post my work. From there, I figured things out as I went: pricing, sourcing, taking orders, and building experience and a portfolio. I attended every networking event that was available, and advertised myself by passing out samples of my work. There was no big launch moment—just small, consistent steps.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My love for florals started with my mom, who always dreamed of owning a flower shop—over time, that dream became mine too. What began as practicing at home and saving inspiration slowly turned into a business as I learned the ins and outs of becoming a florist. I specialize in custom bouquets and floral designs for courtyards, creative floral arts, special occasions, and weddings. I focus on flower combinations, textures, and movement. I help clients turn their ideas into something real. What sets me apart is the intention behind everything I create. I’m not just arranging flowers—I’m designing an experience and emotion. I’m most proud of building this from the ground up and staying true to my vision. I want people to know that when they choose my work, they’re getting more than flowers—they’re getting the smiles, the joy, the hugs and kisses from gifting what is considered a small symbol of love.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’m building my audience on social media organically, but in the beginning, my biggest mistake was not creating content. I was focused on improving my work behind the scenes instead of showing it, and that set me back. Once I realized that attention is the new currency, everything shifted. It’s not just about how good your work is—it’s about how many people actually see it. When I started taking content seriously and posting consistently, things began to grow. Now, I bring in around 100 new followers every month. My advice is simple: don’t wait until everything is perfect—start posting now. The more consistently you create and share, the more visible you become, and over time, you will grow.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been intentionally putting myself in front of people who are already looking for what I offer—especially through Facebook groups. Instead of just posting on my page and hoping the right people see it, I go directly into groups where my target audience is active. For example, if I want to book more weddings, I don’t just say “I do weddings” and wait—I join bridal groups where brides are actively searching for florals and introduce my work there.
That approach has made a huge difference because it connects me with people who already have a need. It’s more personal, more direct, and it allows me to show exactly how I can help in that moment. It’s not just about promoting—it’s about being intentional with where you promote, so your work is seen by the right audience at the right time.
