We recently connected with Holli Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Holli, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My passion for art started when I was younger. I remember having a strong interest in creating different art projects as a child. My parents allowed me to be creative and invested in my vision. I remember getting my first play easel when I was younger. I loved to paint and color, so on my 10th birthday my parents gifted me with lots of different art supplies. They couldn’t keep up with all the pictures I would create. As I got a little older, I started to find interest in fashion illustration and began creating clothing designs. Once I showed my parents my designs, they were so proud of my consistency. I wasn’t prepared for Christmas that year, but I was defiantly excited and grateful once I opened my presents that morning. My face lit up when I was gifted a mannequin and sewing machine with different fabrics and patterns keep my creative juices flowing. As I got older, my skills progressed, and I became a self-taught artist. Unfortunately, my creativity started to slow down as I needed to focus on graduating high school and starting collage. However, I still was holding onto my vision of becoming an artist. Even when my dreams felt unreachable, I never gave up. I started painting again in my free time and sketching in my journal between my college classes. As a growing artist, I’ve faced many obstacles, but I knew if I kept practicing and doing what I loved I would make my dreams my reality.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Art has been in my heart since I was a child. As I got older my talent grew but I was still missing the audience I needed to start a real business. I specialize in many creative fields and consider myself to be a visionary. It’s more than paints and markers; I intertwine my passion with every form of art. I enjoy painting with acrylics and mixed media as well. My work ranges from canvas paintings prints to handmade event décor. If my client wants it, I can make it. I would say my ability to truly execute my client’s vision would be what I am most proud of. I am able to bring any idea to life and that is what sets me apart from others. As an artist, I’ve faced many obstacles such as marketing and selling my creations. However, I continued being persistent by coming up with solutions that would benefit all creators. I wanted to have something that would not only help creators learn more about their passion but also a way they too can market their dreams. House of Arts was created to help artists market and grow their businesses. We offer a community for creators to mingle with others by providing a platform to guide each member to success. I wanted to offer a space where artists can display their products and have a positive experience growing their business. I believe it is important to make your dreams your reality, some people just need extra support and guidance on their journey to succuss.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
My main goal when creating a piece of artwork is to captivate my audience. I want each viewer to see their own story behind my art; I want them to portray each piece as if they created it themselves. For me, being able to create a new world or experience for my clients and viewers keeps me motived to create more works of art. Everyone has a story and I just create it for the world to see. I would say being the voice of many through my art is the most rewarding aspect of being a creator.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Being an artist comes with trial and error, especially when growing your audience on social media. In the beginning stages of growing my business I felt like I needed to fit into the social media persona to make sales and become successful. The pressure of building a following on social media became exhausting, to the point where I started to lose interest in selling my art. I was nervous that I wouldn’t fit the image other social media influencers and creators had. I believed what society deemed as trending and it wasn’t me. However, I couldn’t let that stop me any longer! I needed to unlearn what made someone an influencer and realize that my talent and my personality would attract the best audience for my craft. It is important to stay true to yourself and never give up on what makes you happy!
