We recently connected with HMBeatz and have shared our conversation below.
HMBeatz, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was a kid , I was always drawn to doing music. My family is full of musicians and singers who mainly use their gifts in church. The drums were the very first instrument that I learned to play. As I continued to play the drums when I was in high school around 2005 , I became heavily intrigued by the keyboard. I would watch the keyboard player in church service , and just as I learned the drums , I picked up a keyboard , starting to play by ear. I began looking up YouTube videos and watching DVDs for beginners. But although I was playing both the keyboard and drums at this point, I was still curious to create in a different way. At the end of my high school career , my brother handed my FL studio, I am not sure if he knew what if was (haha) , but it was a music program. As I opened FL studio I was amazed that I could add both my keyboard and piano skills together in one place. I begin to make beats that Alvin, my best friend (a rapper) could spit bars on. I knew I really enjoyed this moment , but it was quite the moment that made me realize I wanted to pursue this as a profession. Many years passed , but I still dabbled with creating music. I went to college and became a teacher. Fast forward to 2017 , I got rid of the fear of putting myself out there and created a website for selling my beats. It was in 2017 that I sold my first beat to someone who didn’t even know me. This was when I knew I could pursue this as a profession. After much internal doubts , obstacles and self-growth , I have grown into a producer/engineer that is beginning to thrive with the God given gift of music. I am looking forward to great things in my future.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have entered the music industry by simply following my gift . I wasn’t taught formally to do music , but most great musician aren’t . Music is a feeling that can’t be found in a book. I continue to learn everyday from whomever. I believe that once you stop learning , your growth is finished.
So I am a music producer/engineer. I am created music for TV Film , Podcast , Songs , Commercials and more. I compose music from scratch. When an artist comes to me with an idea , I help them bring their vision of the song to life.
I also engineer . This is the part where the music is prepared to be released to the public. This is one of the most important parts , in most cases this is referred to as mixing & mastering.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I am simply pursuing my purpose . I believe I was created to make music. I think about it often and it has always brought me amazing relationships with people .

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Listening to motivational videos and podcasts is something that really helped shift my mind as an entrepreneur. I had to really focus on the positive things in my life instead of the negative. On a daily basis we face so much negativity that you have to train your mind everyday. The speakers that I listen to on a daily basis are Eric Thomas and Les Brown. These voices have helped me to stay focus and believe in myself.
