We were lucky to catch up with Henry Bowick III recently and have shared our conversation below.
Henry, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Music became apart of my life at a very young age. I remember being the lead singer in chorus in 5th grade, performing as Micheal Jackson. Around the 7th grade I began writing poetry and freestyling around the table in science class while the entire class watched me. It was around this time I knew I had a gift in music and ever since, I realized what my purpose was. To wish I had started sooner or later would not made me who I am today. I believe the time I recorded my first song and even wrote my first lyric or performed at my first event. I admit at times I was not as confident so that influenced many decisions growing up but I would start at the time I was meant to start. God doesn’t make mistakes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My artist name is Riaathekidd. I really begin rapping at my high school in Jonesboro Ga, Mundys Mill High. There, I gained a fan base and it spread out through the city of Atlanta. I attended Clayton State University in Morrow Ga, and my music career also played a part there. I was known for free styling around campus and my music. I got into the industry of music from my passion and the belief of knowing I can be someone based off of my gift. During my time in college and living in Riverdale Ga, I begin to create relationships with people who were close to famous artist that the world is familiar with. I recall one time QC label called and wanted to sign me. I spoke directly to Coach K Lee about an opportunity, unfortunately it didn’t plan out. To be an artist that stands out, it takes consistency, dedication and the desire to actually be what it is that you have a gift for. The most proud thing I can say about my music career is finding Jesus Christ and using my gifts for his Kingdom.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect I realize is using my talents for th greater good in society. To create music people can get delivered from and heal from is important to me. For a long time i created art for the world but it was not what God had intended for me. The reward to being in his grace is to see so many people motivated and have a chance of hope when they listen to any of my music now.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Most of the years of my music journey, I have often felt as if I wasted time and resources. This is because of the distractions on my life and the lack of focus on my career. Sometimes I use to look up and see 7-8 months pass and I haven’t recorded a song which would eventually play a part in my motivation. Not having financial gain affected me many years so I wasn’t able to afford studio time. But through it all I still kept going and now I’m in a position to really be able to make a change and get my name out to the world. All glory to God.
