Heather & McKinney, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Heather and McKinney met in the summer of 2020 and instantly bonded over their shared love of sipping skinny margs, listening to live country music, and of course, their obsession with reality TV. During the pandemic, the two’s favorite hobby was planning a girl’s night out and trying out a new restaurant each weekend. Fast forward to January 2021, Heather and McKinney were sitting in Dogwood sharing some sips and decided they both needed a fun new project in their lives. While discussing their hobbies and passions, the two both realized they loved finding all of the best spots in Nashville and sharing those with friends. They chose to put this passion into something tangible and decided to start Sips And The City, an Instagram account highlighting the best spots in Music City. Since then, Sips has grown faster than the two could have ever imagined! What started out as a fun way to highlight all of Nashville’s offerings has quickly turned into a full concierge service! Sips And The City now offers an array of personalized itinerary packages as well as custom gift boxes. Heather and McKinney have officially dialed in on their passion and cannot wait to keep searching for all of the new hot spots!

Sips & The City Nash is a one stop shop for everything in Nashville! Our Instagram highlights all of the best food, beverage, and entertainment in the city. We work with restraunts to market their businesses and give honest reviews on our expereinces at these places. We have a very engaged following and love keeping them updated and in the loop on all of the must dos in town! We also have a webiste where we break down all of this info too.
In addition to our social media presence, Sips & The City is a full concierge business! Clients are able to book us to plan their nashville vacation, including every detail!
How did you build your audience on social media?
We have learned that consistency is key when it comes to building your social media presence. We both came from extremely limited background in social media, but we never gave up! Building your online presence does not happen over night and you can’t give up! Your followers love to see the consistency, the growth will come!
Have you ever had to pivot?
We have had to pivot so many times while building the business! We are both go getters and want to try everything possible to help our business grow. For example, we tried doing decorating for parties that booked us. We quickly realized that was not our strong suit and decided it is best to stick with our strengths. We have learned to master one thing then move on to the next instead of spreading ourselves too thin.
