We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Haley Farmer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Haley below.
Haley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have any key partners or vendors – if so, how’d you find them and start working with them?
The wedding industry is incredibly close-knit. Your reputation travels fast, and once it’s established, it tends to stick. Early on, I learned that finding the right partners wasn’t about cold outreach or formal deal-making. It was about consistently showing up, doing right by clients, and being easy and professional to work with.
I found my key partners organically, one wedding at a time. Each event is an audition. When venues saw that I respected their space, stayed on schedule, and helped create a smooth experience for couples, they wanted me to come back. The same applied to other vendors. Over time, trust replaced negotiation. Instead of “striking a deal,” relationships formed through shared intent to give 100% to every wedding.
As a photographer, I’ve also experienced this on the vendor side. There are certain videographers I’ve worked alongside enough times that our collaboration feels seamless. We anticipate each other’s needs, communicate without friction, and ultimately deliver a better product for the couple. Those are the people I want to work with again and again, and I know they feel the same.
Looking back, the biggest lesson is that partnerships in this industry aren’t transactional. They’re built through consistency, generosity, and long-term thinking. If I were to do anything differently, it would be to prioritize those relationships even earlier, treating every interaction as a potential long-term partnership rather than a one-off job. In a close-knit industry like weddings, how you work matters just as much as the work you produce.

Haley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a wedding photographer in the upstate South Carolina area, but I’m a lot more than that. I’m also the calm, capable presence behind the scenes. On your wedding day, I’m the person you count on to make sure you get to take time to enjoy your wedding day and live in the moment so that when you look back on the photos, you get to remember how your partner looked at you and how proud your family was. I’m the person who can help with your bustle when no one else can figure it out or even sew it back together (which I have done SO many times! haha) Having shot hundreds of weddings at this point, I’m able to anticipate problems before they happen to ensure that you never even notice them happening. Keeping you worry free and focused on the love and joy of your wedding gives me the opportunity to take the best possible photos of you and the most important people in your life.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
This is such a simple answer – but I follow my clients on my personal facebook and instagram! I love seeing the new milestones they hit in their lives, new jobs, babies, houses, etc. I actually just photographed a bride who got married about 5 years ago with their second baby! I love fostering lifelong relationships with my clients and their families. It is such an honor to be present in life’s biggest moments with them.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think my reputation was built through consistency, care, and relationships more than anything else. People remember how you make them feel and how easy you are to work with. I focus on showing up prepared, being a calming presence and providing excellent work, every time.
