We were lucky to catch up with Grace Good recently and have shared our conversation below.
Grace, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I first knew I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally when I started hula hooping for fun in college in my backyard. I loved the feeling of performing and making people smile, and I quickly realized that I had a natural talent for it. I started street performing in Nashville, Tennessee, and learned a lot about what makes people stay engaged while watching a performance. I also started my own business performing at parties and events.
As my skills and reputation grew, I started auditioning for circus contracts. Eventually, I was offered a spot on tour with Cirque Dreams Productions, grew my social media following, and was featured on multiple TV shows. I stayed consistent and determined to reach for the stars and grow my skills and career as big as I possibly could!
Grace, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Grace Good, a self-taught hula hooper turned circus performer who specializes in hula hoops, fire stunts, and aerial acrobatics.. and I love to combine all my skills into one mind-blowing act! I’m passionate about sharing the art of circus performance with a mainstream audience and hope more and more people can enjoy this amazing underground art.
I got into the circus industry when I was in college. I was studying marketing, but I was also hula hooping outside my dorm everyday for fun. I quickly fell in love with the art form, and I started booking myself at small local events. I then started street performing in Nashville, Tennessee, and learned a lot about what makes people stay engaged while watching a performance. I fell in love with performing and realized it was all I wanted to do with my life!
I’ve since performed all over the world, and I’ve appeared on television shows like Go-Big Show, Game of Talents, and America’s Got Talent. I’m also a social media sensation with over 3 million followers across platforms with viral hits on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, & Youtube.
My Big Red Ball, Fire and Aerial acts truly set me apart. I have found a way to combine all of my crazy skills into one outrageous act! Its so much fun!
I perform at NBA and College basketball halftime shows, NASCAR sideshow events, Rodeos, Corporate Events, private parties, and theatrical stage performances of all sizes. Not only do I perform, but I also produce and book talent all over the country. Being a travel artists myself, I have close relationships with some of the best talent across the world and I love having us all work together at spectacular events.
I’m most proud of my ability to use my skills to inspire and entertain people of all ages. I love seeing the look on people’s faces when they see me perform, and I hope to leave a lasting impression on people.
I want potential clients/followers/fans to know that I’m passionate about my work, and I’m always looking for new challenges, I am consistently pushing the limits in my artistry for myself and for my clients. I want to be the best I can and I am so passionate about bringing my best work and creative ideas to every single project or event.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I actually started building my social media audience when I was still in college! I just didn’t realize that is what I was doing back then, haha. I quickly fell in love with hula hooping, it calmed my anxiety I had at the time, I started posting videos of my performances on YouTube and Tumblr (the land before Instagram!) and gained some followers. I honestly just enjoyed posting my journey. Thats how it started, I didn’t care much about the views or followers, just enjoyed the creation process.
I think I had my first viral video in 2015 on Facebook.. it was huge, like 15 million views!! This sortof sparked my curiosity.. why did this video go viral? Why not the others? So I started to experimenting with content and doing some research. I still put up many videos and content just for fun and because I loved it, if that love wasn’t there.. I didn’t post, but I started to love creating fun content for social media and building an audience that came with it! I did themed costume videos, training videos, performance videos, and some behind the scenes raw and real videos. All staying within my content niche of circus, hula hooping, fire, and aerial.
I stayed pretty consistent! At one point I was posting every single day, my daily life of training and performing. I kept all my content focused on performing and training, and some behind the scenes of it all.
Over time, my audience grew, but during 2020, I got on TikTok and that’s when things really popped off! I was performing live streamed backyard circus shows and posting content multiple times a day. I honestly had so much fun growing a community and followers just poured in. It helped me feel way less lonely and afraid at the time.
My biggest advice is to stay consistent and remember you are growing a community around you and your art! I know it can be hard, but don’t worry as much about the views and post what you love more.. that will shine through more than forced content. Staying up with trends is fun, but remember to put your own spin on it. Creativity is key! Try not to copy what others are doing, but be inspired by what they are doing and find your own way. The world of social media is crazy, but it can really help a creative career.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative for me is being able to share my work with the world. I love reading the comments and messages from fans all over the world about how they are inspired, I love hearing from some people that I was the reason they started pursing their art.. that is so amazing and mind-blowing to hear sometimes. You never know who you can inspire and who’s life you can change by simply posting on social media.
I also love seeing and hearing the reaction from the crowd at a live show! I reciprocate the energy they give me. When I can keep a person from getting up from their seat during halftime to watch me perform.. I feel pretty satisfied! My favorite is when I can see people in an arena getting up from their seats but then the stop in their tracks to watch my act. I sometimes can catch their glance from center court.. now that’s a fun and rewarding moment!
I also love the challenge of creating new and innovative work. I’m always looking for new ways to push the limits in my art and within myself and grow as an artist. And I love the sense of community that comes with being part of the creative world.
Being an artist or creative is not always easy. There are long hours, hard work, and rejection. But it’s all worth it when I see and hear the impact that my work has on people.
