We recently connected with Grace Ayani and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Grace , thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the plan for my business while I was in my teens years and it all started through the love of Fashion I would take textiles and I studied fashion at college and at university. I have always loved the option to make something that is for me or for other people big or small.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am 28 years old, Christian and I got into the industry with faith, I have always wanted my business and I thought it would be a great idea to start off with accessories and then go into clothing a bit later. My business sells mainly African print handmade hair accessories such as scrunchies, tote bags, hair bonnets, hair claws and tumblers too. And I plan to do items such as durags head wraps, clothing and others in the near future.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In the beginning I was very hopeful for orders to come straight away but when it didn’t I just continue to pushing my website out through social media

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I have learnt that I shouldn’t order so much of the hair claws just in case it doesn’t sell as well as I would hope I had brought a sample of one of my hair accessories and when the time came I bought it in bulk and it didn’t sell out as quickly as I would like so I decided not to buy so much for the next time
