Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Glenn Ezell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Glenn, appreciate you joining us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
There are many heartwarming stories that I can reference but this one definitely stands out. I had a patient come in who was referred to me from another chiropractor. He was in excruciating low back pain and also had pain that was referring down his leg as a result of irritation from his spinal nerves in his back. He was unable to work and had no answers as to how to return.
Prior to the last chiropractor, he had been through the medical gamut. Medications, steroid injections, physical therapy, and more. The previous chiropractor was one of his last ditch efforts to save him from surgery which is what is doctors were recommending at that point. Thankfully this chiropractor identified that my technique and approach would suit him better and got him right over. After examining him and reviewing the x-rays, we found the problem right away. I was relieved to tell him that this wasn’t going to be easy, but that I could help!
I’m used to emotion and strong feelings when reviewing findings with patients because often it’s the last resort, but his emotion was. palpable, we both shared tears before we stepped out to begin treatment. In just weeks we were seeing great improvement, he was in very little pain and moving around with ease. He returned to work and resumed his normal activities.
Months later when we were able to check in on his progress and review his re-xrays, we both had another heartwarming moment where we saw the improvement and reflected on how much better he was. He thanked me that day for saving him from a life of misery and I never really thought that was possible, but it changed how I view my work and it helps me see things from the patient’s perspective, which, in my opinion, is what I feel like creates the best doctor/patient relationship.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a father of two and a husband to the most amazing woman I know. In my free time I’m at the gym, lifting weights. In my chiropractic practice, I help people get out of neck pain, back pain, and headaches without the use of drugs or surgery. We go above and. beyond traditional chiropractic care and take a unique approach to get to the root of the problem and eliminate it, not just put a band-aid on it.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
100%. I wish I would have known it sooner as well. Growing up my parents never took me to a chiropractor and I never knew anything about chiropractic, so it wasn’t even on my radar. Knowing I wanted to help people by working in the heath field was my general direction and as time went on I was set on becoming a dentist. Thankfully I shifted directions after receiving my first chiropractic adjustment and the rest was history.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pandemic 2020. This was a time in which most entrepreneurs got nervous about how things would go. We ended up not choosing to close our doors and doubled down on advertising and marketing to help more people. Our philosophy at this point was to focus on being safe with what we knew, but also to continue to support the health and wellness of all of our current and new patients at that time. It paid off and was a catalyst for growth that year. The lesson learned here is that there are opportunities for growth in every situation, even when it seems like there isn’t.
