We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful GLAM Nashville . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with GLAM below.
Alright, GLAM thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Jillian and I knew we wanted to pursue an artistic path at a very early age. I (Martha) attended Paul Mitchell the School and became a licensed cosmetology right after high school. Jillian attended University of Tennessee and graduated with a BFA in drawing.
We worked some jobs before meeting at a popular salon in Nashville. We worked together for a few years as lead makeup artist and lead hair stylist. We then discovered the demand for on-location traveling artist in Nashville and surrounding areas. That’s when we decided to start GLAM Nashville in 2015. We love what we do and love making people feel and look their best for their most special moments.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Jillian and I started this business from the ground up and with that comes some hardships. We used every penny to build up our kits with the best quality products for our clients. We did a lot of free work to create a professional portfolio and gain connections in the industry. We worked hard to build a small team of artists that we know and trust to show up and do the quality of work that’s expected from Glam Nashville. We are proud of our work ethic and desire to meet our clients expectations. We really listen to their wants and needs and won’t stop at anything less than the best. We pay attention to every detail and treat their special day as our very own. We continuously further our education by learning new techniques and trends to stay on top of our clients needs. We do everything form photoshoots, video shoots, commercials, weddings, stage performances, bachelorette parties, and everything in between.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to make others feel and look their best. We are a part of a special moment in their lives, wether it’s for a wedding, photo shoot, or music video. It’s always a happy environment!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
COVID was our most challenging year like everyone in our profession. We had many weddings and events cancel which left us feeling helpless and unsure of our future. We didn’t know what that meant for the beauty industry since we work very closely with people.
During the lockdown, we sanitized our kits thoroughly and focused on family and our health. When things started opening back up, we took extra precautions to provide safe and sanitary services for our clients.
