Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Geeta. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Geeta, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Yes, naming a business is definitely not easy! I wanted something simple, clear, and meaningful — something that immediately tells people what I do, while still feeling personal and professional.
That’s how I came up with “Wax & Facial Center.” I didn’t want a name that sounded too fancy or hard to understand. I wanted a name that reflects exactly what I specialize in — waxing and facials — and also sounds like a place where clients can feel comfortable and trust the services.
I chose the word “Center” because I wanted it to feel like more than just a service spot. I wanted it to feel like a dedicated space where people come for care, relaxation, and transformation. Even though I run my business from home, I designed and renovated the front room of my house to feel like a peaceful studio — and calling it a “center” really felt right.
I also thought about names that included words like “beauty” or “glow,” but in the end, I realized that simple and clear works best — especially for people searching online. Since most of my clients come through Google or word of mouth, I wanted something that instantly communicates what I do.
And today, when clients say “I love coming to Wax & Facial Center,” it feels like the perfect name for this little dream I’ve built.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi, I’m Geeta, a licensed esthetician and the founder of Wax & Facial Center in San Diego. I specialize in waxing, facials and threading, and I’ve built my business around one simple idea: helping people feel more confident and beautiful in their own skin.
My journey into this field started very early — back when I was just a 6th grader in India. I used to spend time with my aunt, who owned a beauty business. I still remember the first time I applied a waxing strip on her. It might sound funny, but in that moment, I felt something spark inside me — I truly fell in love with waxing. For me, it’s not just a beauty service; it’s a form of therapy. That feeling has stayed with me ever since.
Like many people, I took a different path first. I worked for Singapore Airlines for nearly 8 years, and after getting married, I moved to the U.S. That’s when I finally had the chance to follow my dream. It wasn’t easy — English was my second language, and I had no idea where to begin. But with the support of my husband and some amazing professors and classmates, I enrolled in City College Downtown and became a licensed esthetician.
Once I got my license, I worked at European Wax Center for 6 months — my dream job at the time. But I missed time with my children, and my older son once said, “Mom, you don’t have time for me anymore.” That was the turning point. I left the job and decided to start my own business — even though I was scared. I renovated a room in my house and launched Wax & Facial Center in September 2024.
Now, I run my business from home, but I’ve created a space that feels professional, welcoming, and peaceful. What sets me apart is the personal connection I build with every client. I take my time, I listen, I care — and many of my clients say it feels more like visiting a friend than just getting a service. I believe that beauty is not only about appearance — it’s also about how someone feels when they leave my chair.
I help clients with sensitive skin, body hair concerns, dryness, and self-confidence. Whether it’s a first-time threading session or a regular Brazilian wax, I always make sure they feel safe, understood, and comfortable.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come with any funding — from being unsure of my English, to now running a successful small business with happy, returning clients and great reviews. Most of my clients find me through word-of-mouth or Google reviews, and that makes me feel like I’ve really earned their trust.
To anyone reading this: Wax & Facial Center is not just about beauty — it’s about comfort, care, trust, personal connection and building confidence. Whether it’s your first time getting waxed or you’re just looking for a friendly face who truly cares about your skin, I’m here for you.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I truly believe my reputation has been built on genuine care, consistency, and personal connection. Every client who walks through my door is treated like family. I don’t rush through my services — I take time to understand what each person needs, and I do my best to make them feel comfortable, heard, and valued.
Another important thing is hygiene and professionalism. Coming from a background where attention to detail was very important, I carry that into every waxing or facial session I provide. My clients know that I use clean tools, safe products, and maintain high standards.
But most of all, I think my clients trust me because I’m honest and approachable. Many of them say they feel relaxed talking to me and feel like they can be themselves. I also make it a point to remember details about them — not just their skin, but their stories, their lives. This human touch really matters.
My Google reviews speak for themselves — and I’m grateful that many clients take the time to write about their experience. That word-of-mouth reputation has been the heart of my business.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy has been word of mouth and Google reviews, without a doubt. I didn’t invest in big marketing campaigns or advertising — instead, I focused on providing excellent service. When clients feel happy and cared for, they naturally recommend me to their friends, family, and coworkers.
One of my clients once told me, “You should ask for reviews — people would love to support you!” That simple suggestion made a big difference. I started gently reminding clients to leave a Google review and many of them did. Those positive reviews helped new clients feel confident in booking with me.
Also, I make sure the experience is not just professional, but warm and personal. I follow up with clients, check how their skin feels after the service, and even give small skincare tips. These little things build trust and loyalty.
Lastly, I’ve found that being available and responsive — whether it’s answering calls, messages, or booking requests — plays a big role in client retention. In today’s world, people appreciate quick, friendly communication, and I always try to offer that.
