We recently connected with GB Flame and have shared our conversation below.
Hi GB, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learned the craft by studying the greats, but also by putting in the real work behind closed doors. Music is more than just sound to me—it’s vibration, it’s energy, it’s something you feel before you even understand it.
A lot of my learning came from those late-night studio sessions in the basement, just repeating the process over and over again until it felt right. There’s no music school that can truly teach the kind of repetition, patience, and dedication this craft requires.
More than anything, I’ve learned that talent alone isn’t enough. You have to have emotional resilience and the right mindset. I always admired Kobe Bryant’s “Mamba mentality”—that idea of showing up every day committed to getting better. That’s how I approach music. Every day is another opportunity to sharpen the gift God gave me.

GB, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Before anything else, I’m a devoted father and a man of faith. My life and my music are deeply connected, and I try to move with gratitude for the gifts I’ve been given.
Music isn’t just something I do—it’s something I put my heart into. If a record doesn’t feel right, I’ll record it again and again until it truly reflects what I want people to hear. Sometimes that means recording the same song dozens of times until the emotion and message come through the way it should.
Beyond making music, I’ve also been building my brand in ways that support the community around me. We currently have shirts and hoodies available, and I’ve started collaborating with local business owners to help promote each other’s brands. I also spend time helping up-and-coming artists find their sound. Sometimes that means sitting in on their studio sessions and giving guidance from what I’ve learned along the way.
What I want people to understand most about me is simple: family always comes first. Everything I build, every song I write, and every opportunity I chase is ultimately about creating something meaningful for my family and the people who believe in me.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to show people—especially the underdogs—that there’s another way into this industry. You don’t have to pretend to be someone you’re not.
For me, authenticity is everything. Rap was originally about expression and storytelling. Somewhere along the way it started feeling more like a popularity contest. My goal is to bring some of that original spirit back into the music—real emotion, real stories, and music that people can actually feel.
I want my songs to be something everyday people can listen to and take strength from. Whether someone is going through a struggle, chasing a dream, or just trying to make it through the day, I want my music to remind them that they’re not alone.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience has been a big part of my journey. I’ve had to rebuild more than once. I’ve experienced moments where it felt like everything I worked for was slipping away, including people I once trusted trying to take things from me.
But I also have young people watching me—young boys who are learning what it means to be a man by the way I move and handle adversity. That responsibility keeps me grounded and pushes me to keep going no matter what happens.
One of the toughest moments was when my music hard drive and computer were stolen. Years of unreleased music and work were gone overnight. It could’ve easily broken my spirit.
Instead, I took it as a challenge. I went back to work and created even better music. Sometimes the setbacks that hurt the most end up pushing you to grow the most.
