We recently connected with Gayne Dorio and have shared our conversation below.
Gayne, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I have always had a very close relationship with my parents and they truly are my Best friends. They have always taught me that anything is possible with hard work and determination. They always taught me that no job or role is too big or too small for anyone and every role is just as important as the next.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My first introduction to photography was a high school photography class and I instantly fell in love with taking photos and developing them in the darkroom. Even prior to that high school class I don’t remember not having a camera in my hand. I later took photography in college. I did take a break from photography for quite a while at least on a professional level but jumped back into it the first chance I got. I focus mainly on portrait photography. Families, babies, senior photos, maternity photos etc. I’m proud of what i’ve accomplished & that I have a successful business after such a long hiatus.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding my business when I decided to get back into photography came in the form of an inheritance. My grandmother passed away and left me a little bit of money. I was able to use that money to buy and update my camera and purchase some of the additional equipment I needed. a little bit of light that came from a sad scenario.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I had known more and had a better grasp on social media and how to use it to my advantage in business. There is a whole other side to social media when you have a business and how you post and what algorithms you fall into can make a huge difference in how many people and what audience sees your posts as well as how you come up in a search engine.
