We recently connected with Gabriel Olokunwolu and have shared our conversation below.
Gabriel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
For almost a decade, I worked in the tech industry and consistently noticed a common struggle among small businesses: building functional websites. It wasn’t just about having an online presence; they needed platforms to manage customer databases, handle email campaigns, and integrate payment systems. However, many small businesses & startups faced financial constraints, making it difficult to afford such comprehensive solutions.
One day, I had an idea: what if there was a platform that allowed small businesses to set up fully functional websites in just five minutes without any coding? The idea was simple but powerful, and I knew it could make a significant difference.
The next day, I started by sketching out the concept, identifying the core functionalities the platform needed. I then spent the following months conducting market research, speaking with small business owners to understand their specific needs and pain points. This research validated my idea and provided crucial insights for the development phase.
Recognizing the need for a strong team, I began networking and reaching out to potential collaborators. Slowly, I built a team of talented developers, designers, and marketers who believed in the vision. Together, we started the development process, focusing on creating a user-friendly platform that incorporated all the necessary features.
We faced various challenges, from technical issues to design dilemmas, but we tackled them systematically. We went through multiple iterations, testing the platform rigorously and gathering feedback from beta users. Their feedback was invaluable, helping us refine and improve the platform.
After a year of hard work, the platform was ready for launch. We named it Khaime, reflecting our mission to support and guide small businesses. On launch day, we introduced Khaime to the market, and the response was positive. Small business owners appreciated the ease of use and the comprehensive features that the platform offered.
Today, Khaime continues to help small businesses build functional websites for ecommerce and elearning quickly and affordably. We’ve come a long way from the initial idea, and we remain committed to improving the platform and adding new features to meet our users’ evolving needs.
This journey has been about making technology accessible and empowering small businesses & startups to succeed online. And that’s a mission we’re dedicated to continuing.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Gabriel Olokunwolu., the CEO of Khaime. With nearly a decade in the tech industry, I’ve developed a passion for solving real-world problems through innovative technology from software to infrastructure

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
We started as a platform for course creators and educators, helping them build functional sites for full eLearning systems that included payment integration and other training administration tools. We then identified opportunities in the broader market of general business owners and startups. By pivoting into this space, we significantly increased our total addressable market and growth.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Having worked in tech for close to a decade, I had saved enough capital to give my business a three-year runway before seeking external investment. My co-founders and I pooled our resources to fund the initial stages of our venture. We didn’t just bring cash to the table; we also contributed significant human capital.
For example, as a software engineer, I led our software team for over a year, saving us the cost of hiring a CTO. This hands-on approach allowed us to develop our platform efficiently and effectively, while also conserving our financial resources. My co-founders also brought their expertise and skills, which were crucial in building and growing the business.
Our combined efforts and resources enabled us to establish a strong foundation and achieve significant milestones without relying on external funding. This self-sustained approach not only demonstrated our commitment and belief in our vision but also positioned us favorably when we eventually sought external investment.
