We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gabby B. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gabby B below.
Gabby B, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
Yes, definitely. There have been times when both my personality and my music have been misunderstood. Some people assume I’m mean, stuck up, or unfriendly just because of how I look or how confident I am on stage, but in reality I’m very shy at first and really grounded. It made me realize how easy it is for people to build a story about you without actually knowing you.
My music has also been mischaracterized by people who don’t fully understand the genres I work in or how the industry has evolved. Blending Brazilian funk, pop, and Latin sounds can confuse some listeners who expect artists to stay in one lane, but that fusion is a big part of who I am.
What I learned from all of this is that you can’t control how people see you, but you can control how true you stay to yourself. Over time, your work and your actions speak louder than any assumptions. It taught me to be more patient, more confident in my choices, and more intentional about letting my real personality and my message show through my music.

Gabby B, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a Brazilian-born singer, performer, and entertainer currently based in Miami. My journey into music and entertainment started very early in life. I grew up surrounded by art and movement. My mom is a samba dancer and my dad is a capoeira master, so music, rhythm, and performance were always part of my world. From the time I was little, I knew I wanted to do something creative and be on stage.
I also grew up living in different countries, including Brazil, France, Canada, and the United States, which shaped who I am both personally and artistically. Being exposed to so many cultures helped me develop a very global perspective on music and identity. That’s why my sound blends Brazilian funk, Latin pop, and mainstream pop. I naturally move between languages and cultures, and that shows in my songs.
As an artist, I create music that is confident, empowering, and rhythmic. A lot of my work is designed to make people feel strong, free, and energized. I want listeners to feel good in their own skin and not be afraid to express themselves. Many of my songs have also become popular in dance and Zumba communities, which has been really special because movement and rhythm are such a big part of who I am.
What I think sets me apart is that I don’t try to fit into one box. I embrace being multicultural, multilingual, and genre-blending. I’m not afraid to mix Brazilian funk with Latin sounds or pop melodies, and I’m not afraid to be feminine, bold, playful, and strong all at the same time. My brand is about authenticity, confidence, and growth.
I’m most proud of building my career step by step and staying true to myself while doing it. I’m proud of creating music that connects with people across different countries and backgrounds, and of building a fan base that grows with me. I’m also proud of how much I’ve evolved as a performer, a songwriter, and a person.
What I want people to know about me is that everything I do comes from passion and hard work. I care deeply about my art, my fans, and the message I put out into the world. My goal is not just to release songs, but to create experiences through music, performance, and culture. I want people to dance, feel confident, feel seen, and feel inspired when they come across my work.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think one of the hardest things for non-creatives to understand is how personal this journey really is. It’s not just a job where you clock in and out. Your ideas, your emotions, your insecurities, and your life experiences all become part of your work. When something doesn’t work out, it doesn’t just feel like a professional setback, it can feel personal.
Another thing people don’t always see is how much time and uncertainty lives behind the scenes. There are long periods of creating, practicing, planning, and investing in yourself without immediate results or guarantees. You have to believe in something before there’s proof that it will succeed.
If there’s one insight I’d share, it’s that creatives aren’t just chasing attention or fame. Most of us are chasing expression, connection, and purpose. We’re building something meaningful from nothing, and that takes patience, vulnerability, and a lot of faith in yourself.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think the biggest thing society can do is truly value creativity as real work. Artists and creatives put in countless hours practicing, creating, investing their own money, and taking risks, even when there’s no guarantee of success. Respecting that effort and seeing it as a profession, not just a hobby, makes a huge difference.
Support can also be as simple as showing up. Streaming music, buying tickets, sharing someone’s work, or even leaving a kind comment can help more than people realize. Those small actions create momentum and confidence for artists who are still building.
I also think it’s important to create more spaces for creatives to grow, collaborate, and be seen, especially for artists from different cultures and backgrounds. When diversity is supported, creativity becomes richer, more honest, and more powerful for everyone.
A thriving creative ecosystem starts when people believe in artists not only after they succeed, but while they’re still becoming.
