We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Frank Rosa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Frank below.
Frank, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be a success in any business you have to pay attention to the details. My motto has always been “Success is in the details.” In a recent discussion with an employee I was asking for an update on some clients and the employee mentioned there are no updates at this point, so to give an update it would be overkill and my response simply was no update is an update. If you promise to provide an update every Friday I will expect that update every Friday. That creates a higher level of accountability. I higher level of intensity when things are expected. The level of focus is lifted in our success bar.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Frank Rosa and I am President and Co-Founder of Florida Solar Partners. I have spent the last 30 plus years in Sales, Marketing, Business Development and all around Entreprenuaholic. In most cases it were businesses that I started from scratch. Approximately 4 years ago when I was introduced to the Solar industry it really was at it’s infancy. It really has not changed much since then in Florida. You see currently there’s only 1% of residential rooftop systems in the state of Florida. Not only is that a huge niche but the opportunities are endless. When my partner Seth and I started to work on the planning we knew we wanted to be different. As the brainstorming began I asked my daughter Chloe if she could draw something for us. Due to covid she was going to school virtually so I was happy to see her more often than before. In a matter of minutes she came up with a character that would eventually become “Sunny.” I can’t wait until you get to meet “Sunny.” Our branding with team Sunny has taken off. Sunny has many fans. In conjunction with Kiddos Magazine we sponsor Sunny’s Reading corner in which local author’s of children’s books get to read to the children. Using Sunny we want to educate the future on the benefits of renewable energy. Sunny and friends will help us reach that target.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I have been training and developing people for many years and my main philosophy has been to take care of those who take care of you. My number one asset all along has been my people. My Partner Seth would attest that I always treat all my people like family. Yes, I have made many sacrifices for the sake of my team, but I know it is all worth it at the end. Like I mentioned before, my motto is Success is in the details. That includes my most valuable asset which is my Human Resources. If my team is happy and well taken care of I know they are going to give me their best. A perfect example is one of my consultants who just graduated in the month of August from the Renewable and Environmental Program from Florida International University. I hope that you can see the picture doing the Super Man pose. Needless to say he is one of my heroes. He has been working for Florida Solar Partners for approximately a year while going to school and paying his way all the way. Talk about resilience! His incredible persistence and hard work paid off. Jose Espinal helped ink what looks to be the largest ground mount system in the Florida Keys history. What a way to start your new future career. Every day via text we begin the day with, “Great Things are coming our way today.” “Success is in the details!”

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Back in 1991 I was introduced to Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. I really do enjoy reading a hard cover book. I know technology these days offer different ways to read a book but I like holding the book and take it all in. Since then I have made it my habit to read Think and Grow Rich every year. I have multiple copies with notes all over them. Every time I start something new I pick up the book and read it with that new venture in mind. As a Sales Manager and later consultant I would begin by training my teams reading Think and Grow Rich as a team. We would read one chapter per week and on Friday mornings with a cup of coffee we would create our own Master Mind group and breakdown what impressed us the most out of every chapter. Starting with “Thoughts are Things!” My team’s also enjoyed the history behind the book with Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Andrew Carnagie. The team learned from some of the most successful people in America at the turn of the Century. Today some of my best friends worked for me in the past one way or another. We still talk about the books and the lessons we learned together. Some of them are the top reps for their companies making well into the six figures. One thing we learned was that it not always about the money but lasting relationships. I thank them all for the opportunity to share with them. Now is time to turn that page for Florida Solar Partners where anyone looking to do their part in helping the environment can become a partner and succeed with us. Even if you are a stay at home mom that would like to make a little extra income for the household, you are a partner.
