Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Francisca Makela. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Francisca thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Omorphia originally started off as a hair line, selling wigs and bundles. I always had trouble finding quality bundles for my hair so I decided to sell my own. Shortly after launching I began researching hair butters and decided to create my own and sell it as well. This gave me the idea to start looking into more natural products. I’ve always struggled with excessive sweat so I began researching all natural products for women and that’s when I realized I really wanted to get into the health and wellness industry.
A lot of women struggle with sweat, odors, and other irritations in the vaginal area. And while there are other brands out there, I knew I wanted my brand to be 100% natural and chemical free. I took a deep dive into natural ingredients, their benefits, vendors, and everything that I would need to get started. The yoni bar was my first product. I was working a 9 to 5 and coming home to make soap in my kitchen. I tested it before I sold it, my friends and family tried it and they all had good feedback. I rebranded into a yoni line and haven’t looked back since.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born in the Congos of Africa, moved to the U.S. in July 2005. In 2019, I decided to launch my business, Omorphia, LLC, after working a 9 to 5 for years. I knew I wanted to become a business owner because I knew working a regular job with regular pay wasn’t enough for me and my child. I’m the sole provider for my daughter, Grace, and I wanted to make sure she is straight for the future. I’m the first business owner in my family so I have an example to set.
I sell all natural vaginal and skin care products. Such as yoni wash, yoni bars, yoni oil, body oil, turmeric wash/bar, yoni wipes and much more. The main goal of our yoni products is to increase vaginal health. Our products fight bacteria, kill odors, help with irritations, help with cramps and irregular menstrual cycles.
Our skin care and turmeric products aim to fight acne, heal dry skin and reduce dark spots and hyperpigmentation. The thing I’m most proud of, and what I want potential clients to know is that I have really worked hard to create some very effective products. My reviews are often testimonies from women who have struggled with a variety of issues for years. They’ve tried all types of medicine and other products but nothing worked until they tried Omorphia products. So I just want people to know these are truly some life-changing products and I couldn’t be more proud.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Instagram and word of mouth. I have a good following on Instagram and the girls on there are really supportive and always sharing my page. They will tag me in comments, share my posts and tag me on their stories, create videos, comment and tell their friends and family. I have really grown a community on there. The “Omorphia Angels” are amoing my biggest motivation.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I respond daily to Instagram DMs and emails. We have a customer service email that our customers can reach out to whenever they have a question or order issue. We try to respond to everyone within 24 hours. This has been a comment I receive a lot too — that we are very responsive and helpful with any issues. Good customer service is another reason why we have so many loyal customers. They appreciate being valued.
