We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fern Lemus. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fern below.
Alright, Fern thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
CONTENT IS KING!!! My studio specializes in high-energy music and high-quality video content.
The modern age of music has had many pitfalls, from the flood of subpar music to the rising cost of touring and performing.
Many of these issues can’t be helped, but one of the biggest mistakes I see artists making is not putting importance on their online representations.
Be it terrible social media, lack of content, and my (least) favorite…When they don’t even bother to let anyone know they’ve just released music.
All this effort and time is spent writing and creating the music and when it finally gets to me, even more effort into transforming that song into its final state.
There is some “hope” that if the song is good enough, it’ll find its way to the people. But I hate to break it to anyone who hasn’t figured it out, it’s not enough anymore, you need consistent content to share and build your brand.
So my studio’s goal is to ensure everyone who comes in, leaves with content. Videos, photos and anything else that is needed to help promote your presence. It all comes standard at my studio, unlike many others who will charge more for the services (If they can even offer them at all).

Fern, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
From the very beginning of my musical journey, I knew this was my purpose in life.
From opening shows as a teen to touring professionally, and recording everywhere from home studios to professional facilities. I’ve given everything to drumming and music.
I founded FL Recordings (SA, TX) and have been producing records since 2010.
I provide a full range of services to artists including Recording, Drumming, Mixing, and Mastering.
Through my years of experience, both as an engineer and professional drummer for the bands “Lions At The Gate” & “Silence The Messenger”, I’ve crafted a unique set of skills allowing me to understand what’s needed to take your material to the next level.
Music has been a way of life for me from a very young age, so I try to impart a little bit of what I’ve learned over the years in every project.
With two decades of experience, you can rest easy knowing I’ll treat your music with the utmost respect and deliver my all.
Patience, Devotion and Passion.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Easy, consistent, high-quality content!
I learned that posting content regularly and responding to what my audience engages with has helped me build my name and brand.
The reason I managed to land both professional bands I’ve played with, is that I did a great job of making my skillset and presence known through my accounts.
And while every other drummer in my industry just sat still and played their songs, I felt like I should inject my live performance style into the video. Bam! huge hits in my first consistent year posting, because the energy is what was wanted, not the importance on playing.
Injecting your personality into the content is key, it’s why you see so many successful streamers and content creators. It’s not because they’re the best at what they do, it’s because they’ve found a community that resonates with them.
So get out there and use that creative brain of yours to figure out content you can make, no matter the equipment.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I try to reach out to clients regularly, directly or through my CRM (client relation manager). In my industry, music is very important and personal to many of these musicians, so they’re not going to trust just anyone with that.
I’ve been very fortunate in my music career, so when I share with people my discography (hundreds of songs and millions of streams) they’re often put more at ease and it helps give them this sense of “Ok, you know what you’re doing.”
I lend my knowledge to inexperienced artists and offer tips to everyone I work with. Be it by playing on their records, offering writing advice, release plans, or just being a friend when they need it. But the most important thing is, I ALWAYS deliver the highest quality I can in a timely manner.
I grew up a broke musician trying to make it and spending every dime I had getting my music out. So when bands or artists come to me I try to make sure I overdeliver and give them my all.
My goal is not to become a millionaire (I picked the wrong industry for that lol). My goal is to help people feel seen and heard and capture the vibe, the moment, and the killer performance that resonates with all.
I just want to make music to the highest level I can and help others along the way.
