Alright, Faye thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is when I was part of a program in college where I went and helped serve dinners at nursing homes and provided after school care to students at local schools. I love being in a place where I can help others.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am Faye. You can call me Faye Faye. And I’m known as nostalgiatimemachine on Instagram. One day that name just stuck out to me. I mean I’ve always been an old soul in a lot of ways. This name came to me during the time I had seen Bohemian Rhapsody and I became obsessed and totally engulfed in that movie that my sister and I had a Queen inspired party and later we were Freddie and Brian from Queen that year for Halloween. Vintage and retro has always just resonated with me! I was rocking the bell bottoms and wore blue eye shadow in high school when everyone else was wearing skinny jeans and black underliner. Retro is definitely a huge passion of mine and so is fashion like I’’m a Bratz doll or something. Anyway, I thought it would be cool to make an Instagram to share with people my love of retro and fashion. It started out with me just showing retro ads and pictures of celebrities on my page, and then I started adding pictures of myself and my other era outfits. It has been fun showing people my interests!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I don’t have a huge audience yet but what I can say is to definitely be yourself and be genuine. It is also helpful to put yourself out there and by doing so I mean actively sharing stories on Instagram and commenting on people’s posts that you enjoy and connecting with other people. Your followers will find you!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

I do what I do because I want to inspire others and to just have fun with it honestly. I would like to one day have something like my own 80s themed fashion line and give back to to help other people. That would be an ultimate goal.
