We recently connected with Fawaz Saheed-Baba and have shared our conversation below.
Fawaz, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took a risk by choosing music coming from where i’m from the main thing is education. Parents want you to be a lawyer, engineer, doctor or some sort of professional which makes sense but they almost ignore your talent/gift. I chose music despite all of this. my parents minimized it at first as a hobby but deep down since I was a kid I knew this was what I wanted to do and even when I was going to school and all that at the back of my mind it was always music. I followed that path down to every place i’ve moved to music has been a major factor just looking for opportunity. When i finally graduated college and my parents asked about graduate school I shut that down and told them I was focusing on music and was done with school. I am finally seeing movement in my music career and even though I am no where close to where I want to be I am moving in the right direction. Even down to taking music electives in college when I didn’t have to, starting businesses, I apply most of the lessons learned from those to my art. This is what I want and there’s no stopping unless God wills it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Fawaz – Afrobeats artist from Lagos, Nigeria
I am very intentional with my sound most of my music is high energy because life is hard I want my music to be some type of escape for people. I’ll make slower tempo songs here and there but for the most part i like and aim to make high energy songs I can perform to make people happy and forget some hardships temporarily
I am proud of my growth and resilience. I could have stopped a few times but I never did.
My supporters know they can get consistent, High quality music from me.
What sets me apart is my style, my swag, my sound selection and my delivery.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I was unemployed and had no income for 8 months but I was still consistently dropping music. I did not let my situation slow down my momentum.
My parents did not want me to make music but I never stopped

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I don’t know anything like I know music and its so effortless I believe God blessed me with it and I want to use that blessing to change my life, my family’s and also help people especially where i’m from.
