We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fatima Oliver. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fatima below.
Alright, Fatima thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Rooted in Women’s Wellness came from a season in my life that really shifted my perspective.
At the time, I had a one-year-old and a two-month-old when I was suddenly rushed to the ER and ended up in the ICU. I didn’t come home for 15 days, and being away from my children like that forced me to slow down and really think about what I needed, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally.
Around that same time, my family experienced a lot of loss. My mother-in-law passed, then my father-in-law, and I also lost my stepmom and my godmom. It was a lot to process while navigating motherhood and trying to stay grounded.
I had also recently moved from Philadelphia, and I realized how difficult it was to build meaningful connections as an adult in a new place.
What became clear to me was that I needed community. I needed support. I needed real friendships.
When I looked around, I noticed that a lot of spaces offered pieces of that, whether it was fitness, social events, or networking, but very few intentionally created space for women to truly connect.
So I started building what I needed.
Rooted began by bringing women together through movement, but with intention. Not just to work out, but to connect, to feel supported, and to build something real.
What stood out to me early on was how naturally those connections formed and how many women were looking for the same thing.
That is when I knew this was bigger than just an idea.
Rooted has grown into a community where women can prioritize their wellness while also building genuine relationships, and that is what continues to drive me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Fatima Oliver, founder of Rooted in Women’s Wellness, a community-driven wellness collective designed to bring women together through movement, connection, and intentional experiences.
My background is in project management and strategy, but Rooted started in a very simple way. I began organizing small meetups like walks and hikes with other women, and quickly realized how much we all craved real connection in addition to wellness.
As I continued building, I became a certified barre instructor, which allowed me to be more hands-on in the experiences I was creating. From there, Rooted evolved into curated wellness events that blend movement and community in a more intentional way.
Today, we offer experiences that include barre, Pilates, sound baths, and other wellness activations. What makes Rooted unique is that I’ve built a team of women who each bring their own specialty and certifications into the space, allowing us to create well-rounded, elevated experiences for our community.
Beyond events, we are also committed to impact. Through initiatives like our menstrual product drives, we partner with local organizations to support women in our community, extending wellness beyond the experience itself.
The problem we solve is simple. Many women are looking for community, but do not always have access to spaces that feel both welcoming and meaningful. Rooted creates that space.
What I am most proud of is the community we’ve built. Women come for the experience, but they stay for the connection.
At its core, Rooted is about balance. Prioritizing your wellness while building real, supportive relationships.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the biggest moments of resilience in my journey came during a time when I was navigating both postpartum and personal depression.
After having my children, I found myself in a space where I didn’t feel like myself. I was dealing with a lot mentally and emotionally, and I knew I needed to find something that could help me regain a sense of control and stability.
For me, that became the gym.
I started showing up at 5 AM consistently, not because it was easy, but because it was necessary. It became my outlet. It helped me manage stress, clear my mind, and slowly start to feel stronger again, both physically and mentally.
What I didn’t expect was that those early mornings would also introduce me to a community. I started seeing the same women every day, and over time, those familiar faces turned into conversations, and those conversations turned into connection.
That experience showed me how powerful movement and community can be when they come together.
It wasn’t just about working out. It was about having a space to release, reset, and not feel alone.
That season taught me that resilience doesn’t always look like pushing through everything on your own. Sometimes it looks like creating or finding spaces that support you in the process.
That mindset is what I’ve carried into Rooted. Creating intentional spaces where women can move their bodies, manage life’s stressors, and build real connections along the way.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped me build a strong reputation within my market has been authenticity, consistency, and intention.
From the beginning, I focused on creating experiences that felt real. Rooted didn’t start as a large production, it started with small, consistent meetups like walks, hikes, and early morning workouts. That consistency built trust, and women began to associate Rooted with a space they could rely on.
Authenticity has been a major part of that. Nothing we do is performative. The lifestyle we promote is the lifestyle we actually live. I show up at 5 AM, I prioritize movement, I’m vegetarian, and I’ve been sober for over a year. It’s not something we just preach, it’s something we practice daily. I’m also a certified barre instructor, and I attend our experiences just as much as I facilitate them.
That level of alignment resonates with people. Women can feel when something is genuine, and that has played a big role in building trust within our community.
Community has also been a key driver of our growth. Most of it has been organic through word of mouth. Women come, bring their friends, return to multiple events, and stay connected beyond the experience.
Lastly, I’ve been intentional about building a team that aligns with this same energy. Each woman brings her own specialty, whether that is barre, sound healing, or other wellness offerings, which allows us to create well-rounded experiences while staying true to who we are.
At the end of the day, our reputation has been built on being consistent, being intentional, and most importantly, being real.
