We were lucky to catch up with Fatima Abed recently and have shared our conversation below.
Fatima, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the decision of whether to donate a percentage of sales to an organization or cause – we’d love to hear the backstory of how you thought through this.
A portion of your purchases will help to fund Hawaiʻi Alliance for Progressive Action (HAPA).
HAPA fights to change the political system so that it responds to the needs of the people and the planet. HAPA advocates for sustainable food sources, community-based resources and equitable housing.
Housing is the most critical issue in Hawaiʻi right now. The housing crisis disproportionately affects people of color, especially kanaka (Native Hawaiians) who are being forced out of their communities.
This year alone over 6,000 people were recorded as house-less in Hawaiʻi making it one of the states with the highest house-less population; some people working two, three and even four jobs just to feed their families.
Help support Hawaiʻi Alliance for Progressive Action by purchasing a reading, spiritual service or supplies. Book a reading now to make a difference.

Fatima, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a third generation psychic medium of Spanish, Puerto Rican and Palestinian travelers. Originally from New Jersey, I’ve traveled throughout the states and multiple countries learning and sharing my gifts.
I started seeing spirits and had premonitions in dreams at a very young age. My mother wasn’t open to the spiritual, so I kept a lot of it to myself until my teen years when I finally sought out a teacher. I started doing spiritual work immediately and to my surprise, it came naturally.
During this time, I lived upstairs from my grandmother. My aburla and I were never that close. She did a lot of writing and watched her novellas. I would come bring her coffee some mornings and we would talk for a few minutes. Sometimes she would say weird things to me.
One day she predicted her death. When I asked her how she knew, laughing “What are you psychic?” She looked at me, sternly and said yes. I brushed it off at the time, but it did concern me.
I was so overwhelmed by my experiences as a teen and I felt very alone. So I spent a lot of time out of the house to find peace.
After finding a teacher and practicing I finally felt that things were going smoothly in my life again.
It wasn’t until years after my grandmother’s passing (which was the day she predicted) my mom dropped a bombshell.
I was reading tarot cards in the living room surrounded by my prayer candles; Our Lady de Guadalupe, Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Joseph. My mother walks in and says “Aye, you look just like your grandmother reading the cards with all the candles!” I almost lost it. To know that my mother knew this whole time was astonishing.
My mom knew I had been with a teacher, so this was all a big surprise to me. What’s more, I learned that other people in the family also have this gift and some of them practiced in the past. All of this solidified my path.
Since then, I have traveled throughout the states and many different countries, teaching, learning and sharing my readings and products with my students. It’s been over 10 strong and years of finding myself and personal healing so that I can help others who are experiencing the same traumas and misguidance that I did, heal.
Some of my services and abilities include: and past-life regression therapy, dream interpretation, tarot, mediumship (and animal mediumship), palmistry, tarot, coffee readings, intuition development, oracle readings, divination and remote viewing, cord-cutting and scrying.
I am also known for my “removals” and hex breaking capabilities, though I take clients on a case-by-case basis for this. The removals and hex-breaking are donation only.
My products are relatively new and inspired by my culture and pure intuition. I make everything from hand including candles, bath salts, oils and kits to help bring in love, money, prosperity and protection. Everything is made with love and blessed. I’m currently working on a podcast to answer tough questions of those who are looking for some guidance.
In addition, I offer training courses to those who are struggling with awakened mediumship abilities and empath counseling.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I learned how to hex break from someone who hexed me. I was seeing a local psychic to remove a hex that a former friend placed on me after I tried to distance myself from her. He successfully broke it.
However, he started praying on my emotions when it came to someone I loved by offering readings and saying this person was in danger spiritually. This love interest was out-of-state at the time and had some spiritual issues in the past. So I was concerned.
I was still in the early stages of developing my awareness, not to mention this psychic definitely was doing some work to have a hold on me. I lost money here and there and more importantly I was losing faith in myself. I started getting suspicious of the readings while driving home from work one day. He called me as I was going through the toll booth saying that my romantic interest was in trouble spiritually and that I needed pay for another reading. I told him I’d call him back.
What he didn’t know was that I can remote view. I didn’t like doing unless there was an emergency, but this felt like the right time. I saw my lover sitting by a campfire, drinking a cup of coffee, everything was calm and fine.
When I called the psychic back with this statement, he said “Check again.”
It was then I saw dark shadows around my lover and I could tell he was hearing voices and they were tormenting him. I didn’t know what to say or think or do.
I eventually told one of my medium friends what was going on after about a month or so of seeing this psychic. She told me to look up some of the rituals he had me do, simple ones involving quarters.
I was told by the psychic this was to help keep my person protected because my love interest, he insisted, was in danger.
I bravely, looked up what he asked me to do. And I was horrified. The ritual was to keep us separated so that I could keep going back for his services. Not only that but it was on a page that shared VERY dark magic that was meant to harm people.
I felt sick and I felt God. I ran, grabbed the quarters and dumped them in the sink running ice cold water on them. Then I got down on my knees and prayed. After months of radio silence from my person I immediately get a text from them. “Hey beautiful.” I knew he was finally okay.
Just then, the phone rang. It was him, the psychic. He asked “Is everything okay?” “Yeah, everything is fine!” I said hiding my emotions.
My anger in myself for letting this happen was what led to the next events. My apartment felt heavy. I could feel this psychic’s eyes on me. I could see them.
That evening I saw a light, what I like to call, “a soul” darting ALL throughout my apartment in a star-like pattern. I knew it was him. I knew it was the psychic hexing me.
I yelled for it to stop. It was physically and emotionally upsetting. I started to pray but nothing worked at the time. This went on every night. My friend told me to light white candles and recite Hail Mary around the apartment. Her father was a decon and I felt too this was the right thing to do. I did this twice a day for two hours at a time.
It didn’t stop the hexing right away. Because here’s the thing about hexes. Your energy and input is only as good as your own reflection. What had I done? I brought this on myself. What could I do to protect my loved ones?
Because breaking a hex is so personal. They call it hex “breaking” for a reason. Part of you has to break or reach a breaking point where you need to not only humble, yourself but fight back.
I allowed for someone to make me doubt myself, to make me doubt God. So that’s where I went back to. When I was done with my “breaking” the clock on ny stove, started blinking “3:33” and then stopped.
That was years ago. I now have a way better understanding of how to eliminate a hex and how to protect yourself and others with the power of God.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I never imagined Suitcase Psychic and International Botanica to be a thing. Ironic coming from a fortune teller! I packed my Jeep up and left New Jersey with one suitcase and camped across country. Along the way, I met amazing people and felt touched and inspired on my journey. I gave readings out at campsites, while sharing a free bottle of champagne out of coffee tins. Once I got to Hawaiʻi, I worked as an editor and was finding my footing in the spiritual community.
I ended up as a reader at Ohana Hale Market place and started saving to do expos such as OHM and Body Mind Spirit to grow my clientele.
I met a priest who taught me Hawaiian house blessings and I also traveled a lot and learned practices from different cultures.
As a very small POC woman-owned business, I put almost everything I make back into my business. I make very little profit. To me, getting the message out and updating social media has been a challenge.
I do readings via Instagram as my main platform. I know people want to see a face to connect with, so I’m working on overcoming my shyness and being more in-front of the camera in a pre-recorded setting.
Expos are the most exhilarating for me because I get to connect with and help many different people in one place. I’d like to eventually have enough funding to take my services on the road.
