We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Faith Omole. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Faith below.
Alright, Faith thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I remember being a very introverted child and using my hand to create things helped me kill time. I was always the kid in secondary school who would draw the skeleton and other assignments for my classmates because I enjoyed it.
But when I really knew I wanted to pursue art was when I figured out I could create the human connections I never had in my art on canvas!
I missed my dad a lot when I got into uni and started to create art that reimagines him and I when I was younger and I found how therapeutic that was. Relationships were also hectic for me for created all my life connections on canvas and it got easier. Those times were defining moments for me.
What kept me going so far though is my commitment to preserving the sacred wisdom in ancient symbolism. It is a testament to the intelligence of my ancestors, which is gradually becoming extinct.

Faith, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a visual artist, based in Lagos Nigeria, whose works preserve cultural artifacts and also create beautiful stories encouraging unity and love. Historical African symbolism has been in existence before colonization and slavery and it serves as an important aspect of African culture. But due to the aforementioned occurrences, these cultural heritage materials are gradually dying. There’s an identity crisis when it comes to the origins of some of these symbols. My art serves to preserve that.
My works validates humans’ need for connection in a world that’s actively evolving and outsourcing real human relationships with screens and social media platforms.
I got into the art industry my fate in 2023 as a professional artist, while my family found it hard to accept that this is what I have chosen to do with my life. But the passion for the impact I’m making has excelled in making me exhibit my works both home and broad in over 20 group exhibitions and some art residences.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Moving from uni during the COVID-19 pandemic to Lagos in Nigeria without much of a plan.
I know it sounds impulsive but I really wanted to position myself in the right spaces and I risked it. It was one of the best decision of my life!
At a point I was stranded but I figured it all out and found a place to stay in Lagos and even thrived!
I strongly believe passion is one of the things that made me this resilient and of course the spirit of the woman who raised me

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Human resource!
The right people can take you to the door and open them for you.
Knowing the right people makes access to opportunities very much easier and faster to reach them too.
I wish I knew this earlier but it’s never too late!
