Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ezgi Sertcetin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ezgi, thanks for joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
Actually, I am in love with doing what I do now and this gives me satisfaction. I have my freedom to create my artwork and express myself without being limited by anything.
This is very important for being creative.
Some people may think that an Artist just fastly paints some draws or pictures and the artwork is created but this is not the reality.
Every work of art, either painting or sculpture, has its own unique story inspired by events that affect us.
We are deeply sensitive and emotional people who are affected and inspired by the realities of life.
It is not easy to describe the motivation but I can definitely say that it takes days and weeks to create and express your motivation the way you want. There are days when you work almost 15 – 16 hours or more on only one painting just to keep your motivation.
Concentration and devotion are the key factors of success.
In addition to all of this, I also give art lessons and try to inspire other art lovers which keeps me very busy while making me very happy.
If I can come back to the answer of the question, I would easily say that as an artist you are too busy and focused on what you do and don’t think about a regular job nor anything else than being focused and inspired on being creative for yourself and others.
Ezgi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born in to a family of artists and had the chance to experience this lifestyle from my very young ages on. My father is a pianist and my mother is a violinist and for this reason their whole entourage has been artists which varied from music to paintings.
I learned from young ages on that harmony is the key which makes our existence more beautiful and builds happiness.
And the most important thing is that it doesn’t mean to be similar,.Even inconsistencies can come together and create a harmony. Good things or bad things, beauty, understanding, human love or just the life flow is crafting our life. As you know contradictory ideas rule the world but sadly, they are not always in harmony.
For his reason I decided to express my feelings with creating my paintings and sculptures using unconventional materials in a contradictory way for that time.
Different than others I started to create original resin art paintings and mixed media which gave me more freedom to create my motivation.
All the years of education and the experience of my teachers taught me a lot but nothing is more important to me than my mother’s motivation.
She just said:” believe in what you do and do it the best you can, no matter what others think, just do it for yourself.”
Everybody was expecting oil paintings and kind of traditional artwork but I started with abstract sculptures and abstract art.
After and after I improved myself and found myself working on fine art – mixed media artwork.
Meanwhile I create Fine Art, Original Resin Artwork, Sculptures and Original Paintings.
I use different materials like crystal stones, all kind of natural stones, amethyst, selenite, kyanite, sodalite, quarts, pyrite, zirconia diamonds as well jewelry on wood panels and finish them with resin and other materials.
I like to use glitter, stones, shiny and glossy materials as a expression of positiveness on my artwork.
But I have a lot of different styles in my Gallery in Boca Raton Florida.
I do also custom orders for art lovers where we can decide on the size, style, colors and material together.
At the end what counts is that we have peace and happiness around us and our beloved ones. We need to understand that life is not always friendly. But little reminders like works of art, can easily help healing your minds or remind good times. I want to be a part of the people’s happiness and their positive recreation times.
I am very proud of all the art lovers who trust my style and off course to all my art lover participants who attended my podcasts, conferences and teaching classes.
I hope that I have been able to be a speck of sunlight to light up their hearts.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
To look and to see are two different things. I think that artists can look and see the environment in a different way than it is usual. We can see in history, that people have been ruled in a similar way for long times. All over the world they were told or showed to do things because of religious, traditional or whatsoever reasons and this was supposed to be the good or so-called right behavior and people almost forgot that they have a brain and could think for themselves and their families. We need to keep in mind that the only thing which is not changing is the changing itself. This kind of facts started changing with the renaissance and the efforts of artists of the renaissance like Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci and many more.
At this point artists are very important because they are mostly synthesizing different components and express them in a smooth harmony which helps people to understand or realize the differences. It is very important to have different tastes and styles around us. It is not always a book or a teacher who can show different aspects and visions.
I want people to be happy in unity and solidarity and create my work of art to be able to be a part of the people’s life and happiness using my unique style and this is the most rewarding part of being an artist to me.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
As already mentioned earlier, the only thing which is not changing is the changing itself. For this reason, we need to keep in mind that the style of art also changes with time.
The digital possibilities and platforms created different ways for the people to live and enjoy their habits in their life. This starts with social media and goes on with digital dating, living and even digital pet growing.
As a part of this I can describe NFT as a modern way of art which gives someone the ownership of an art piece, mostly more basic digital draws or paintings. Anyway, it is basically the same idea of owning an art piece, but in my opinion a physical art piece is more enjoyable and a much better experience to enjoy. You may be able to watch at a NFT with a screen or projection even on your wall at home, but it is something else to feel the texture, see the material and the effort of the artist on the physical art piece, which is a totally different level of enjoying the art.
We also need to keep in mind that both, NFT and physical art, are definitely different styles and can’t be compared to each other.
