Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Evin DeShawn Stylez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Evin DeShawn , thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
It was honestly the women in my family as a whole. They showed me and instilled in me that I need to use my voice & speak up. While also celebrating the fact that I was more into art than sports. Allowing me to express myself in ways that others may have seen unconventional at the time for a boy. I’m grateful for that and I keep those things with through this process of life. Even with them being not physically present anymore.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my journey as a fashion stylist over 10 years ago. By studying and creating my own shoots to show off my creativity. Many of my beginner shoots are shot and edited by me. I eventually moved to Dallas where I was working retail & call center jobs, when I received my first opportunity to style my first professional shoot. And that lead me into doing commercial, print and billboards. For Northpark Center, & many different model agencies in the area. I took a break from styling for a bit to push myself into more creative directing roles. Did that for a few years. Then in true Ev form I pivoted into producing for a series on YouTube. While also doing music. Which has lead me into now being in entertainment ,radio, and media. So the journey has been a rolling ball. But one thing I remember is to lean into the power of the pivot.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Speaking truthfully my whole journey starting off event today has been just that. I have not had the most easy life and up bringing. I come from humble beginnings and a life of a lot of abuse. But understanding that the struggle of life will only make you greater. Finding peace within the circumstances & within yourself knowing that better will find you. Faith over everything and choosing you is key. We are not promised an easy life. But if we do it correctly we live a fulfilling life. Even with setbacks and obstacles. And to remember “a setback can be a set up, for a great comeback!”

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
To be impactful to the world I’m apart of. And to leave a mark and path for others to find and connect to the journey that’s for them. My mission is to leave the door jammed open for the next to come on in and do greatness in the room.
