Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eva Ford. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Eva, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
It’s funny because when I was creating my Tarot business, I was trying to think of a catchy name. One of my goals was to disarm the fear of Tarot, and to present it as a tool for guidance with positive outcomes, rather than a dark practice filled with doom. I had many readings in the past, and found that the most powerful readings were the simpler ones, using three to five card spreads. With that, I decided to use a fun, light, French theme, and call my business, “Le Petit Tarot” which literally translates to “The Little Tarot”. And, as I tell everyone, a little Tarot goes a long way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have worked in PR / Marketing and Fundraising for nonprofits for twenty years, and while I love what I do for a living, I felt as if there was a big creative void in my life. I knew I had a special intuitive gift, but I had no idea what to do with it. On a visit to Salt Lake City, my friend recommended that I look into getting a Tarot reading, so I booked one at a local metaphysical bookstore, and that is where I met Ross. His reading was so encouraging and empowering that I decided I would visit him again when I was back in Salt Lake City. On that visit, Ross mentioned that I was very in tune, and that I could learn Tarot. And with that, I went back to LA, drove out to West Hollywood to the House of Intuition on Melrose, bought my first Radiant Rider Waite deck, and the rest is history!
I provide Tarot readings to bring clarity, guidance, and peace to people who are looking for answers to life’s questions. As individuals, we’re all on a crusade for solutions, so I use Tarot as a way to help with making decisions, and to shed a different light on a current situation. Additionally, I make it a personal mission for people to feel empowered and strong after their reading, just like how I did after I met with Ross.
I visit with psychics and readers all the time, and what I find is amazing is that we are all so different! The style I have chosen is to be my true self. I dress as if I were showing up to an office on a casual Friday, with amazing crystal rings and bracelets, and I use my time with clients to co-create a helpful resolution. If we are in person, clients will draw their own cards, so they have ownership of their reading. If we’re meeting virtually, I take photos of the spreads and send them to the clients, so they have a point of reference. As any business professional, I am upfront with pricing and expectations, and I deliver an elevated level of care and authenticity to every reading.
I adore my clients, and my proudest moments are when I get a text from someone saying that their reading came true. When a client lets me know that something positive manifested from their reading, whether it’s a new romance, or job, for example, I am completely over the moon. I am so grateful to have such an awesome gift that I can share to help people.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I have always had a strong work ethic, and I have picked up an incredible skill set over the years. So, I bring that same high-level of professionalism to Le Petit Tarot. I am very responsive, make scheduling very easy, and bring a lot of light to each reading.
You would be surprised, but many people fear Tarot readings, so I make every effort to help them feel comfortable. For new clients, especially if it’s their very first time with a reading, I am extra thorough, and I go into great detail of how the cards imagery and positioning help answer their question. I also create a “judgement free zone,” which allows clients to breathe a little easier. As previously mentioned, I love my clients so much, and I know that high level of care is what helped create a positive reputation for me in Los Angeles.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I have found that the best strategy for growing my clientele is through referrals. I have met the vast majority of my base through friends and family members of clients. Often, I end up reading for sisters, mothers and daughters, even a client’s father! I am all about the family readings – it is so fun! And, I love reading for couples and pets! Because of my positive reputation in the community, along with the ease of scheduling, I have been able to grow my clientele at a wonderful pace.
Another way I have grown my business is through an app called Thumbtack. It’s where I typically book parties and some individual readings, and I have had the good fortune of having longstanding clients who I have met through the app. I haven’t had clients come to me from social media, but I have built a great international community on Instagram, which is just as important to me as my fantastic client base in the U.S.
