We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Estefany Tarango a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Estefany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Working for someone else was always a difficult thing for me to endure.
Working hard to never get the appreciation or financial benefits that I knew I deserved or could have by being out on my own.
Becoming a Business owner was a great decision then and especially now.
The idea of being able to work my schedule around my family , field trips, birthday party’s, etc is a major blessing for me.
I used to believe that the amount of money I made was the epitome of Success but, now I realize that it’s the freedom to choose where I invest my time and when .
Being able to be there for my kids and family is the biggest accomplishment & it’s been the greatest reason why I will continue to have my own business.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
After being in the PMU industry 9 years I’ve realized that the most important thing is how my clients feel after their service.
I aim to make them feel confident in their own skin when I’m done, all while building an individual bond with each person.
It’s very important to me that we connect so that they may feel comfortable telling me their desires and goals so that I can help them achieve exactly what they’re looking for, & know that I will do the same for who ever they refer to me.
I give my clients the best incentives to refer their friends & family allowing my business to thrive without the hustle & bustle of social media. It’s an Organic relationship, a lot of my clients know each other in some way shape or form. It’s beautiful.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I believe that keeping your clients on a routine Maintanence schedule is key.
Most clients will not come back when they should due to lack of pre booking.
Having a schedule system where you can keep track of clients appointment allows for smooth follow up appointments, where you can see their previous visits, products and techniques used during their last services.
This also allows for your client to receive email and text notifications for their upcoming appointments regardless of how far ahead they have been pre-booked.
This has been key to maintaining my clientele strong & growing.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first started I was looked at as naive because of my young age.
I dealt with older women wanting to take advantage of this by trying to get their money back on services already rendered.
I had to look within and ask myself if this was due to my skill set or just someone trying to get a free service out of me.
After asking for them to come in to see me or to even send pictures so I can asses my work and them refusing to do so, Knowing I had done my best I realized it was only just that, someone wanting a free service.
In the future I ensured to add into my waiver form that there are no refunds no matter the circumstances.
I stated that all deposits were non refundable, all of this to ensure my time was being compensated properly for.
This was a tough lesson for me to learn as in the early stages of my career I did not have the thick skin for it and it made me want to completely stop what I had so excitedly just begun.
I’m glad I didn’t give up & allow myself to be pushed around.
If you respect yourself and your business others have no option but to do the same .
