We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Erika Weathers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Erika below.
Alright, Erika thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I think we all take risk in life everyday some are bigger then others but risk doesn’t always have to be seen as a negative. Everyday I get in my car, drive my motorcycle, fly on a plane is a risk, but I do it to get where I’m going. I just hope I get there safely & soundly as possible. I believe if you don’t take risk there will be no rewards. You have to put yourself out there and hope for the best. Be it your health, your finances or just everyday life. I bet on the Superbowl this year I picked a 4 way parlay that means I have to get all 4 picks right the odds aren’t good. I only bet $50 that was the risked if I lost. I won in the final quarter of the game my reward was $220 not too bad. Just like in my acting career you have to take risk with your character make bold choices, being vulnerable you have to put yourself out there. Get out of your comfort zone pursue every opportunity afforded to you despite the rejection or failure. The reward may just be worth it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello I’m Erika Weathers I live in Atlanta Ga originally from update Ny. I am a Flight Attendant a Realtor a Notary a self-published Author and an Actor. I am also a 3x Breast Cancer Survivor. I was celebrating being 16yrs cancer-free till the end of 2024 I had my routine scans that needed further testing & the results were a new cancer in my left breast. I had surgery in February 2025 & 3 rounds of radiation in May. Routine scans in November results no evidence of cancer! Amen praise the Lord!!🙏🏽🙏🏽
During that time I took leave from flying but I was still auditioning. I booked my first Lifetime Movie a supporting role continued auditioning booked another Lifetime Movie in Tampa 3 days on set a bigger supporting role. All while I was going through my battle with cancer. I was so blessed to have found it early, I had lumpectomy, then radiation and now I’m on hormonal therapy. I get up every day thankful & grateful to keep my life moving forward. My family & friends were there to support me & get me through that battle & back to living my life fully & as healthy as I can.
I am now working on my 2nd book, my first book Free Me to Be Me my turbulent journey with breast cancer is available on my website & Amazon. I am still working on my Real Estate business and hoping I will have success in that chapter of my life very soon.
I thank the lord for his grace & mercy everyday. I will continue to have the faith in my lord & my savior Jesus Christ by his stripes I am healed! 🙌🏽💕

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I am on a mission & my goal has been the same for a while in my acting career. I want to book a 5 & under, co-star, guest star & a recurring role. It doesn’t have to be in that order I just want to book a sag project! I would love to be a part of an ensemble cast in a sag film or tv show. I’m putting that out into the Universe…. Hopefully it will be answered by the end of 2026.
I’m also working on my next book. I hope to finish that soon and find a publisher this time or I will self-publish again.
I am also working on a short film just need it get it scripted and see if I can get it filmed.
My last goal is to go to an open mic night & perform a comic skit. 🤩

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I started pursuing my acting career in 2011 taking classes & submitting for indie projects. I signed with my agent in 2014 East Coast Talent. I started booking non-union gigs & independent projects. I have grown so much over the years working with several acting coaches & taking classes & workshops learning different techniques. I enrolled in a mentorship program for the next 6 months & I know this program will take my career to the next level booking my first sag project.. What people don’t understand is that this is not a hobby. With the ups & downs in this business some people do quit but a lot of us just keep going because we know that next audition is the yes that we have been waiting for, you booked! I hate when people say to me oh you still doing the acting thing? When are you going to give up on that? The answer is yes I’m still doing the acting thing & I’m not giving up, I’m only just getting started!
