We were lucky to catch up with Erica Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Erica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
With prenatal massage as my specialty, I had the joy of empowering a client to overcome pregnancy-related pain in her hips and lower back. By shifting her appointments from my suite to in-home sessions, I massaged her while she laid sideline in her bed and sometimes the massage table if it was a day she could move. I took the time to explore innovative techniques to address her specific needs and implied them to the massage. Through our weekly encounters, she achieved less pain and a better gait in her walk. She expressed deep appreciation and always refer people to me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
In 2022, Skinset was born out of the rebranding of Eerie’s Essential Massages (est. 2017). Skinset’s goal is to offer a nurturing environment where people can develop a self-care regimen, heal, and learn in a judgment-free space, promoting relaxation and personal growth in body/skincare.
I fell in love with massage therapy in 2017 while at Indiana State University, where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Massage Therapy. I gained experience by job shadowing at an athletic training facility on campus which I worked on firemen and I also performed massages at the rec center.
Over the years, I have expanded my skills in various settings, from luxury spas to chiropractic offices, and recently added esthetics to my repertoire after graduating from Tricoci University.
My goal is to provide a luxurious experience for guests, tailored to their specific needs. Through a detailed consultation and paperwork, we establish a shared understanding. After reviewing their preferences, I outline the service.
After the service is complete, I provide a customized aftercare plan, specifying visit frequency, areas of focus, and at-home care recommendations.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
When it comes to clients profiles, I make sure I have an active email and phone number.
I have it set that if they haven’t been in for 30-60 days to send them a reminder about booking an appointment. Sometimes I personally will call and check in with the client and make sure everything is okay with them and I leave a note based on our conversation so I know I reached out
Also, I’ve created a loyalty point system. The more points you gain, the closer you are to redeem them for free services. You get points for every dollar spent, referrals, leaving a review and on your birthday.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I was told about this group called Black Dolla Indy on Facebook. I took a chance and saw other people within my field. They made eye catching videos of their work. Any status regarding services they provided, they commented with their business link and formerly greeted the person.
I begin to film my massages, facials and makeup sessions. I taught myself how to edit. I learned editing styles that were popular and started incorporating them into my promo videos.
I noticed that was beginning to draw more people to my business page and then people begin booking me and then they left reviews and began referring people to me.
Also, I started getting the clients involved by asking them questions of what services they would like to see filmed or is there a service they would like for me to provide.
I taught myself how to make business flyers and how to properly structure captions and hashtags because I wanted to be more professional.
It took a lot of research to get where I am today. I still have a lot of learning to do which is why I’m going to business classes to learn a little more.
