We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Enya W. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Enya below.
Enya , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Every time I do a pop-up shop I take a risk. Recently about a month ago I did a pop-up shop that was out of element, the people were different and my sweets didn’t really cater to what they were used to. It was a different and I didn’t really sell much but it was a learning experience and it taught me to keep going no matter what. It also taught me to adjust to my surroundings. If I’m going to do a pop-up shop in a certain area or with certain demographics I should definitely do my research so that I could accommodate those patrons that are likely to visit.

Enya , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who don’t know me my name is Enya and I just started baking one day and decided to make it out of a business. I always knew how to cook and bake and when Covid came I had extra time on my hands to just sit in the kitchen and let my imagination run wild and that’s exactly what I did. When it comes to baking it takes a lot of discipline to not constantly eat the stuff that you bake and it also takes a lot of discipline to take your time and not rush because rushed sweets usually aren’t good in taste or look appetizing. Currently I make cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and brownies. However my menu expands all the time. I take pride in what I do so if a customer ever has an issue with their sweets I’ll remake them free of charge if I can or I’ll just refund them because I’m all for treating people good and doing what’s right. I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m always willing to try unique flavors. For example, I’ made Shirley temple cupcakes before, I think whatever comes to my mind if it sounds like it can be a cupcake I’ll make it! What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come and how I’ve gotten better this past year with my recipes and presentation. It can only get better from here. What I do want my customers to know is that everything I make is literally fresh, from scratch, and made to order. Also I want them to know that fondant cakes are on the way!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped build my reputation within my market is my strawberry crunch cake and my red velvet cake. All of my flavors are good but the strawberry flavor and the red velvet tends to really have a hold on people.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy for growing my clientele is giving my customers the opportunity to try current or new flavors by giving them free cupcakes or cake slices. Every once in a while I bake a cake or cupcakes and I let people get free samples so that they can taste what they’re getting before they place an order.
