We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emmillienne Bellaire. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emmillienne below.
Emmillienne, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I’ve loved the arts for as long I can remember. There was something about music and acting that provided a way out when there was no way out. When things were hard at home or when a boy broke my heart, I knew I could always turn to things like “That’s So Raven” or Fergie’s “Big girls don’t cry”. I’d watch the screen in awe, studying the actors delivery and believing I could do better. I would stand next to the tv and redo the lines, pretending to be my favorite character. With music, I’d wait till everyone left for work and blast Christina Aguilera, mimicking her growls and belt till I had no voice left. Everywhere I went you could not catch me without earphones in. Whether I was at school, in the car, or on a bike, I couldn’t move forward in anything without my music. Even today, I’ll have friends waiting on me to start driving but I refuse to move without a song. I’ll even stay in my car once I reach my destination just to finish what’s playing. I don’t think I ever really considered not being a creative. I had in mind that I might be a veterinarian one day because of my love for animals, but once I realized blood would be involved, it was a hard no for me. Being a creative was always something I just was. Like it wasn’t a choice I had to make or something I had to figure out. So I thought to myself, why not make a living doing what I love? I never dreamed to be famous, but to be successful. I wanted to take care of my family and afford what I needed. Even though I faced an insurmountable amount of rejection anytime I auditioned for anything at school, I never stopped believing this was for me. It’s like asking me why I choose to breathe everyday. I need to.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Singer/Songwriter! I specialize in Pop, R&B, Rap, and Indie, but I can pretty much do any style a client would like me to do. Currently, I receive work through a website called “SoundBetter”, where I’ve built my clientele for the past 4 years. On this site, clients are able to send requests, materials, and rate their experience with me. I’ve had the pleasure of bringing ideas to life by writing, recording, mixing, or mastering. I’ve even had clients ask me to be in their music video! Outside of the studio, I have a residency at Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, where I perform live music with my band “MDNGHT SUMMRS”. Our band comprises of me as the vocalist, our guitarist Isaac Parra-Azocar, our drummer Ricardo Parra-Azocar, and our bassist Johan Gomez. These guys are my ride or die! I adore performing with them and I couldn’t ask for a better team. I think what sets us apart is our versatility in music, as well as our strive for excellence. We all met at our church Fearless LA, and because of our dedication to God and His people, we’re able to provide a light within the industry that’s rarely seen.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Point blank, pay us more. Especially for streams.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Honestly, the most rewarding part of being an artist is when I’m able put into words an EXACT feeling or moment in time. It’s so satisfying to get it out of my body and put it into something more tangible. It’s even more rewarding when someone else can relate and it helps them in the same way it helped me.
