We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Emma Maldonado a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Emma, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.

I treat each of my client like family. My standard is much higher than the regular lash industry standard. I raise the bar high every single day for myself in order to serve my clients with the most up to date advancements and knowledge in the lash industry. There’s a lot of ‘’extra steps’’ I take to make my clients feel as comfortable, and relaxed as possible. Believe it or not, a majority of my clients are normal busy women who often deals with large amounts of stress- ranging from anxiety, depression, ptsd. The list goes on. Mental health awareness is an incredible important subject to me because I dealt with anxiety, ptsd, and depression for a good portion of my life until I got help. This is why I’m so passionate and advocate for mental health awareness. Therefore I strive to make it a calm, safe place, and judgement free zone for all of my clients.

Emma, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Emma Maldonado and I’ve been a lash artist for about 10 years. I specialize exclusively on healthy luxury individual eyelash extensions that is not damaging. I love being able to serve my clients in a way that helps make each woman’s lives easier with the power of beautiful eyelash extensions. I serve the every day woman, who typically do not have enough time in the morning getting ready while juggling family and work. What sets my service apart from others is all of my clients lashes are healthy and damage free. Many of whom, has been wearing my lashes for almost 10 years with no breaks needed. I use the most thinnest, softest eyelash extensions available in the industry and therefore am able to keep the health of my clients lashes strong. I offer lashes services to clients who are sensitive to regular lash adhesive, there are still options for you! I also specialize in lash rehab/corrective work if your lashes has been damaged from prior poor application elsewhere. I specialize in lash lifts, and reverse corrective lash lifts from prior improper application elsewhere.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn at the fact that having healthy strong boundaries professionally and personally is not a bad thing. For as long as I can remember I’ve always been a people pleaser. 2020, was a terribly difficult year for me In my personal life and my mental health . I finally put myself in therapy and I started seeing a therapist regularly. I’ve been in therapy for about 15 months now and it’s completely change my life in the best way possible.

I’ve learned that having healthy strong boundaries professionally and personally is not a selfish thing but rather it is a necessity. It’s okay for me to not be there for every single body every single time.
It’s okay for me to decline to a commitment when my plate is already full of responsibilities.

Now, everyone’s boundaries is completely different. You have to know what your boundaries are and what is your capacity. I believe having a good therapist will help you find out what your boundaries are. I believe when you have healthy strong boundaries you are able to completely show up in life in the best authentic version of you.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I treat each of my client in a way that I would treat a family member or a close friend. So you can say that I treat my clients like, FRAMILY.

How do you treat your family or someone you care about? You treat them with love and kindness no matter what type of business you are in. I genuinely care about each of my clients and I want to make a positive impact on their lives with each visit. I’m thankful I’m able to do that with the power of beautiful eyelash extensions.
