We were lucky to catch up with Emanuel Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Emanuel, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I often ponder on this question and I definitely starting writing music at a young age but didn’t really start going all in until my twenties which could be late in the Hip Hop/R&B realm. I used to think I should’ve started sooner, but then I realized I would have gotten taken advantage of since I won’t have learned the business and all the things that come with this choice of career.

Emanuel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
So my name is Emanuel Brown and I’m a Hip Hop/R&B artist from Newport News , Virginia. I am most proud of that I took a leap of faith to do what I’m passionate about no matter how long it takes to reach the end result. I say this because a lot of people never chase their dreams and live with regrets and I never wanted to be that kind of person.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think one thing people can do is remember that your favorite artists or entertainers are still people just like you. We make mistakes, have families and are so much more than our art so sometimes we need a moment to internalize the things we may be going through. Which may not always align with what our fans or people who support us want.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I would definitely say watching YouTube videos on what some of my favorite artists have done or seeing their process has really helped me understand in some way where I need to be headed or how I should carry myself
